I don't know how many of you would be interested in this 'game'/screensaver, but it's quite an interesting program. (If you can get it to run.) The Endless ForestIt's essentially a role-playing game, where everyone is a stag in a large forest. You can interact with other players nonverbally, and every once in a while there's a dance/party. (There was one this afternoon - it involved a lot of running, dancing, partying, flowers, disco lights, and flying fish. It was a lot of fun. ) It's free to download, play, and register. So, yeah, if you play, look for the stag with the below symbol above it's head, and you would've found me. My appearance keeps changing, since people randomly come up to me and change my antlers/mask/coat around when I'm sleeping. I'm trying to get back to my blue coat look, but right now I'm spotted with short horns regular brown with big silver horns.

It didn't run on my computer at first either. I needed to update DirectX and my video card's drivers. (If you have an ATI video card, you need something called 'Catalyst' for it to work.)

Are video cards default in computers? If not, I likely don't have one...

If you do not have a video card your monitor does not work.

Nope, not usually. (*I meant the gaming video cards, not the integrated ones that come standard) Unless things have changed since I got my computer a couple of years ago.
You could try doing "Start - Run - dxdiag - Display" (In Windows XP) and see if you have a non-integrated video card? It should be under the device's name. From the system requirements on the downloads page, you need this stuff:
Minimum system requirements 2 Ghz processor (2.5 Ghz or equivalent recommended) 128 MB videocard (Radeon 9800, Geforce 4 or better recommended, no integrated graphics) 200 MB of free hard disk space after installation 256 MB RAM (512 or more recommended) Windows 2000 or XP DirectX 9.0c Fast internet connection
I've heard the program's really picky about meeting those requirements. (I had everything, and I still had problems.)

Ahhh....Kryos is an idiot when it comes to hardware...software is her specialty... Anyways...this is what it says I have: img214.imageshack.us/img214/8672/untitled13xo.jpg" I have 135 GB of free hardrive space, and fast Internet, 480 MB RAM, Windows XP...but I only have a 1.67 Ghz processor...

Huh. Very strange. I guess because it doesn't have any information there, you only have the integrated graphics card. You could try updating the driver, since I notice that whatever card you're using has the 2001 driver, but... Without knowing the brand, that's a little confusing. You also don't seem to have "Direct3D" - I don't know if that matters. Have you tried installing the newest DirectX file?

I'd be more worried about your video card than your processor - it might run slower with that speed/might crash, but I'd point fingers at your image rendering hardware instead. ; I really have no idea, though. The help/bugs board on the Endless Forest forum might be useful? (Big pink bar at the bottom of the main page. I nearly missed it the first couple of times.) ><; *has to get off the computer in order to get some sleep* ngg... tired... Good luck!

*sighs* I might just have to give up because I'm poor and can't afford a better video card...*pats her comp* (He may be inferior, but he can magically connect to wireless internet without being in range of any unprotected network...XD) Thanks for all your help though! *snugs* I still really wish I could play though...

I got it installed and stuff. Don't know if it works yet I'm trying to register my deer, but I've been having issues with Quicktime things not working lately and I have no idea why. >.< I've updated and done everything I know so I don't know what the problem is.

Kryos - High end video cards aren't utterly necessary for most. I don't think you're missing much. After all, the Endless Forest seems to crash my computer every time I try to close it. Annoying bugger. Arielle - I know a lot of people on their boards want a Mac version, but the programmers just don't have the resources to make it cross-platform. ;_; (At first I read your post as if to say "Mac & Cheese" which made me rather hungry.) Lumi - Are you having trouble registering or running the program? (Quicktime has always been buggy for me. Half the time it just freezes.) - Yay, someone turned me blue! !
