Well, the surgeon removed a pleomorphic xantroastrocytoma (as near as I can figure from my limited Greek, it means multi-changing yellow star cell tumor) the size of an egg from Emma's brain yesterday. It's benign, though they're still running some more biopsies just to make sure. She's doing really well, though, and according to the oncologist, her chances of reoccurrance are slim to none. Of course, my question is, that's very nice but what the eff was it doing in my daughter's head!? No one knows. The kind of tumor she had is very, very rare, even taking into consideration that tumors in small children are extremely rare as it is. It's thought that maybe tumors in very small children have their beginnings while the child is still in utero, but no one knows for sure where tumors come from.
Anyway, I love you guys so much. I can't even tell you how much it means to me that I had your sympathy and support, and I know the prayers were heard. Thanks a million, everyone. She's recovering beautifully and is happily sitting in bed eating an orange popsicle right now.
