I am so completely dumb when it comes to this kind of stuff....but i seriously cant rely on geocities anymore for everything...i have more geocities sites then i know what to do with...all completely unorganized and everything. It's litterally driving me insane. I have nearly 2 WHOLE free geocities accounts that are filled up with cyberpet pages...not to mention a million other different ones...like my raveen kat geocities account, and my Memoru creature account, and my Myrror creature account.
truthfully I have about 5 accounts that are filled to the brim with creatures.
A. I need a server that has TONSOMG of space. B. I need something that will be relatively cheap. C. I need a server that isn't going to disappear off the face of the planet randomly, or that hasn't had any recent problems with website swiping or something...
Please? I'm going insane, i need some sort of order in the chaos that is my internet websites.
Anyone know any good, reliable, and cheap servers? *sweats*

while researching, I came across dreamhost.com Their rates seemed reasonable and they're an established business.
If you go through godaddy.com or 1and1.com you can get your domain for cheaper.

I second godaddy.com. They're very reasonable in price, and even with all of the useless stuff I have on my webspace, there's still a lot of room.

I third godaddy for the domain name. Best place to get them.
There's also esosoft.com. Used them for years with no trouble and only stopped because mom wanted her own server.

My site is hosted at Powweb.com. I find they're reliable and won't disappear any time soon. I've got a pretty big site and I've only used a small sliver of the amount of space they have allocated for me. Everyone who signs up with them gets the same package, and when they upgrade, everyone benefits. You get email, and cgi hosting and all kinds of fun stuff that I've only just started playing around with. The only thing you'd need to pay extra for is all the extra stuff that goes with running an online store. I find its not very expensive, but it isn't dirt cheap either. You can also buy your domain through them, or you can buy it elsewhere and host it with them.

I'm with Hasweb: www.hasweb.com/linux_web_hosting.phpI use their "Business" plan, which includes 4 GB of space and 75 Gig of transfer every month. If you pay the whole year up front it costs $69.99, which comes out to about $5.80 a month. I've been with them for close to two years now, and quite like them. I'll put my vote with everyone else, that GoDaddy.com is definately where to buy your domain name from.

oh, for godaddy I have a coupon for 10% off your next order, plus 1.99 domain names with each non-domain product you buy. If anyone is interested in that, the code is "BEACH". So I assume if you buy a website you could get a domain for 1.99

If you use a cable or DSL internet service provider, lots of times they offer free web space. It may not be able to hold /everything/ you have, but it's hassle and ad-free (usually). I get my cable through Comcast, and they give me free web space. If you do use one of these services, just go to their page, login, and look for something regarding web space.
Additionally, I don't know how you go about it, but it's ten times easier to maintain your stuff if you create the web pages off-site and just FTP them in, no matter what service you're using. You don't have to deal with their slow, cheap interfaces.
Everyone's complaining about geocities lately. I doubt if they've upgraded their servers since their traffic increased.
