I don't know if there are any avid, or even occasional, bike riders in the Orchard... but I wanted to remind everyone to wear their helmet when they go for a ride. I know, they look stupid. They mess up your hair. Whatever "insert dumb excuse here". I got hit by a car a little less than three hours ago riding my bike. All I have to show for it is roadrash all up my right arm and a bruise on each knee. I FELT my head BOUNCE on the pavement. WEAR YOUR HELMET! Okay?

heh I was lucky I got hit by a truck but I wasn't wearing a helmet but my hands saved me from hitting the pavement....but I went away with two scars one on my elbow and well two on my knee's so three scars I guess...and I substained back injury and knee injury from it as well>.> but yeah It is a good idea to wear a helmet I was just lucky that time<.< (by the way I never riden a bike for three years now since that accident)

I'd like to see those gorey pics Sera <_<
Yeah, Cars vs bikes, it's never good for the rider -_-;; I got hit back in... 2000? It was either 00 or 01 <_<; Feeling your entire body hit the car's hood, and then go bouncing down the road on your butt isn't fun n_n; Better than having my leg broken though, the car hit my pedal, right where my ankle would have been n_n; Got some NASTY bruises, and one heck of a scare for my family. "Hi mom? Just wanted to let you know I'm ok, even though I just got hit by a car." XD;;;
Definately glad you're ok though <3

Holy Cats! Thank Heavens that you're alright! And was wearing you're helmet. ;D I was almost hit by a car once while at work. I was bringing in a long line of carts for Safeway when an elderly guy ramed into them. Luckly he's was driving slow and no one was hurt or no damage was done. But a few more feet and he would of got me Of course I'd probably jump out of the way in time but still....

Last year or so, a girl from my school got hit by a truck while on a bike. I'm not positive whether or not she was wearing a helmet or not, but I'm pretty sure she wasn't. She didn't make it, and if I remember correctly, the reason she died was head trauma. Cynther- glad you're okies! Helmets = yay! Same can be said for horseback riding, though luckily, helmet-wearing on horseback is much more enforced than while bike-riding. Last semester, I fell off while going over a jump, and I felt the horse's hoof clip the back of my helmet. I'm lucky that the helmet was there, and I'm lucky that Magnum jumped over me when I fell. I'm also lucky I didn't have a concussion... but my head did NOT feel happy for the show I was in the next day. Also, remember to get a new helmet after being in any sort of bad accident. Check for cracks and whatnot in the helmet

Yikes, I'm glad your okay. This reminds me I need to get a new helmet - lost my old one in the fire. Probably won't bike anymore this year so itsokay. ^_^
Though I feel like I need a helmet to take a walk around here, four gear shifts in less then half a quarter of a mile is un-freaking-believable. *glares at neighbors*

Yikes. Glad you're not broken.
I'm going to pass that story on to my 11-yr-old and 9-yr-old sisters who've been whining nonstop lately that my parents still make them wear helmets and no one else in the neighborhood has to.

Thanks for well-wishes everyone. It could have been much worse, for so many reasons. I'm going to pass that story on to my 11-yr-old and 9-yr-old sisters who've been whining nonstop lately that my parents still make them wear helmets and no one else in the neighborhood has to. Please do! I used to whine for pretty much the same reason, but I am so happy now that my parents got me started on that habit!
