For some reason Fluffy abandoned her kittens. ;.; I went in this morning to check on them and the food/water bowls, and they were prostrate and cold. She was ignoring them, D--n her! *cry* One was already dead, I got the other five in the house, tried the hairdryer to warm them up, but the power went out halfway through that. THANK GODs For Wood Stoves! There was a fire in there this morning and so I put them there that and rubbed them warm. We didn't have any milk, but we had soymilk, cows milk wouldn't of been any good anyways. It's harsh on the stomachs. I also did the dirty chore of helping them defecate and pee. I had the mommy pride of one giving up a very big poop. Tis a good thing, gross but important to their survival. Now they're all sleeping in a box near the stove. *sigh* I don't know if they'll make it. My mom will get the kitten formulae from the petstore...thing is I don't know if I can do the round the clock care for them. In fact today was supposed to go to work with my father, but there was no way I was leaving them alone all day. But there will be other days where my father will need the help. They're only barely two weeks old, just got their eyes open acouple days ago. ;.; It's alittle dark, but there they are sleeping.

Unfortunately that does happen Whether it's a new mom that can't handle it or the mom knows there's somethign wrong.. I worked with the humane society for newborns and such for a long time.. and feeding them every 2 or 3 hours around teh clock is a lot of work. If you don't htink you can do it, you might try contacting a local rescue group - a lot of them take in newborns and have the volunteers to mind them. Afterall in about two weeks, you'll have to make mush to try to convert them to dry food, and if you think the formula is nasty........ *shudder* Very tired volunteers, mind you The first litter we ever had was abandoned.. it turned out, in the end, that they had an incurable disease so no matter what we did to feed them or wet them.. they ended up dying anyway. That was depressing >.<

omg, how upsetting. i'm glad you got to the other five when you did. i hope they pull through. that's so young to have to raise them without the mom. is there any way you can get the mom inside the house or supervise her with the kittens? then they would at least have some sort of kitty mommy around and maybe even milk.

My barn cat did that to her last litter of kittens. Unfortunately, by the time I discovered them three out of five were dead. I convinced my parents to let me bring the surviving two inside (they lived in our barn hay loft, and this was during winter). One was easily saved, but the second's body was starting to shut down. I force-fed him warm milk with an eyedropper and placed him in towels over the crack of our recently-used dryer.
Both survived, but my mom and I had to mix up formula several times a day to bottlefeed them. We also had to help them defecate and urinate, which was both disgusting and educational. XD It was a lot of work, but I'm so glad we took saved them. Of course my mom's an elementary teacher, though, so she was able to take them to her class and care for them during the day. One ended up going home with a student of hers, and the one we resurrected lives with my aunt and uncle.
I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you can find someone who has time to care for them if you can't do it yourself.

So sorry Lumi...I adopted two kittens from my friend...she inbred very badly or soemthing cause they both had this eye puss or fungus.....Wiping that off every couple hours wasn't very good...it'd just ooze out of their eyes.....Well one died...the other lived.....hehehr and he's the handsomest cat ever! So don't get discouraged Lumes...everything will work out for the best....and we are all here supporting you...even if we can't help with the buisness of getting their little poopers out....*huggles and squeezes*

*snugs everyone*
Mouse: This is her second litter, she did fine with her first litter they're big and running around now. I don't think there is anything wrong with them, they seem healthy enough. :/
I don't know of any volunteers around here and I'd really hate to add any more work load to the people working at the shelters. o.@;; I Can do it, it's just I worry that I might have to work at least one day. I'll figure out something.
awe *patpatpats* sorry to hear about that.
Dawby: No, their mom is semi-wild she wouldn't come in the house and if she did it wouldn't do any good. She'd be too busy worrying about us humans to settle down and care for her kittens. And she already abandoned them so...no I don't hold out much hope of the mother taking them back and doing a better job. :/
Silv: *snugs*
Azrani: Your story gives me hope that mine can make it. Thank-you for sharing it. They have a home here with us though we will try to place one or two with other people, they just have to live long enough first.
Indi: Thanks for the encouragement. ^^ *really needs it*

Poor kittens... -_- Nature is very cruel sometimes... Perhaps you really should call the rescue center.... Kittens are a LOT of work, and they'd be able to give them a better chance of making it... And then maybe when they're old enough to be adopted you can keep one/them? I'm not sure...
If there is any way to catch the momma... It would be to put food in a carrier and see if she goes in... That works for our barn cats up here, I dunno... But even catching her wouldn't make her unabandon them... *sighs*

I raised two abandoned kittens that way. Good luck with them.
And, I feel like I should point this out-
Spay Fluffy. Please. The world doesn't need any more kittens.

It was my barn cat's second (known) litter, too, and she was a very loving mother to the first litter. I'm not sure why she abandoned them, but I'm assuming she didn't want any more cats about. There were already the three maturing cats from her first litter living with her.
I agree with Aylura, spay her so it doesn't happen again. Both you and the cat will be happier and for the better. ^^

I agree with Aylura about spaying the cat... it's for the best in the long run. Good luck with the kittens!

For the two people talking about having moms abandon kittens in their second litter.. how old was the first litter of kittens when the second litter was born? Maybe it was because the mommy had her second litter too soon after she had the first one or something.. since she's semi-wild.. she could have had the second litter too soon by mistake.. I don't know, just trying to be part of the conversation

Ivy- Her first litter was around a year old when she had the second. That may have influenced the drive to abandon them, too.
