Compassion took up his 'possition' on the boat, and starting swaying in time to the imaginary waves. "I hope we don't run into a storm!" he said, sounding worried.
Maladroit, happily getting into their pretend voyage, suddenly spotted Attack, who watching them from her rock. "Oh no!" she shouted. "Feo overboard! FEO OVERBOARD!"

Compassion, feeling that he'd helped out, despite Candy's comment, happily jumped out of the tree. "The rest of the leaves can be our food," he told the others. "Sailors need to stock up on food if they're going on sea voyages."
Maladroit grinned at Phenomenon's eye-patch. "I want one too!" she exclaimed, and hastly abandoned her leaf-hat efforts in favor of making herself an eyepatch. The eyepatch was easier, and she quickly made it and put it on. "ARR!" she proclaimed. Then she began swaying back and forth, as if in time to a boat's rocking. "Whoa, whoa! Rough seas we're having!"

Maladroit happily followed her brother onto the "ship," and then watched carefully as he and Candy made leaf hats. After watching a few minutes, she decided she'd seen enough of how to do it, and started searching out leaves of her own. Within a few minutes she was intently trying to form a hat out of her newly aquired leaf.
Compassion, happily already in possession of a hat, and not feeling up to making more, quickly decided to help gather leaves for the others. There were far more leaves in the trees than on the ground, so he half-leapt half-climbed up a nearby trunk (conveniently shaped for climbing) until he was among the branches, where he began plucking out large quantities of leaves and droping them near the others.

Maladroit and Compassion followed along with the others. Maladroit could see that Phenomenon was feeling happier, which made her feel happy too.
Compassion had also noted Phenomenon's happier look, and was silently glad he hadn't been the only one who didn't want to go on an adventure. He watched nuetrally as his sister Candy built her "ship." Being her brother, he was rather used to her mannerisms. He didn't wish her to have to play alone, so when she called "all aboard," he moved ahead and joined her. "I'll be one of the deckhands," he told her humbly. Then, with a bit of humor, added, "So long as you don't mind a deckhand with cooties."
Maladroit, on the other hand, found herself falling back into her old pattern of following her brother. She waited, watching Phenomenon, to see what he would like to do.

Maladroit carefully watched Phenomenon, and then nodded in agreement with Attack's assessement. "Yeah, I think Fenamen doesn't want to leave right now. He thinks the rock is a good place to play." Maladroit paused, considering. "Fenamen and me like to play tag alot. The rock would be a good place for that."
Maladroit had also caught on to the fact that Phenomenon was confused about Candy, so while the others were considering what she had said, she moved closer to Phenomenon and whispered to him. "I think Candy likes you. She can't say your name even as good as me, though." She took a quick glance at Attack. "I think Attack might like you too. I can't tell for sure yet, though."
Compassion, meanwhile, heaved a releaved sigh. Truly he didn't like adventuring, and his sister Candy had been right that he would be reluctant to go. He hadn't known Maladroit all that long, and this was his first time meeting Phenomenon and Attack, but he had a feeling they'd all get into serious trouble if they took off into the forest.

Maladroit considered carefully. "An adventure.... that'll be hard to find here in the boring 'ol Orchard. But, if go that way we'll get into the real forest," she signaled eastward, where beyond the Orchard trees the heads of tall old pines and oaks could be seen.
(OT: I always seem to notice at least one spelling error as soon as I've posted ^^; )

Maladroit looked around at the group. Everyone was smiling (some more foolishly than others), but no one was talking or doing anything else.
"Um...so. What do you guys want to do?"

Maladroit, recognizing her cue, flashed a quick smile at Phenomenon and then turned to Attack. "Hi there! My name is Maladroit, and that's my brother Fff...ffff...Fenanem, except that's not his real name, but I can't say it right, and he can't say it at all 'cuz he doesn't talk, but you can tell what he means by how he moves, and that's Compassion, and he talks and he's nice and stuff." Her words tumbled out one after the other without pause until she was done--apparently she felt some sort of need to fill in Phenomenon's silence.
Compassion blushed slightly at Maladroit's offhand compliment, and moved forward a bit when she was done. He bobbed slightly in greeting to Attack. "Nice to meet you," he said.

Compassion felt a moment's thrill when Phenomenon looked up and noticed him. It quickly changed to alarm when the other feo came charging his way! He was about to start screaming like a little girl (only the thought of his father's disappointment made him hold out that long) when Phenomenon suddenly swerved away. Compassion could feel himself gaping at the other. "Wha..." Then he noticed the friendly smile the other was giving him, and after a second he shrugged and offered a timid smile back.
Maladroit, having been an expert follower of Phenomenon all her life, easily picked up on his body language. She squealed in delight when she saw the new 'game' her brother had invented. She bounced impatiently as she watched Phenomenon charge at Compassion and swerve off at the last moment. Seeing Phenomenon's grin at the end, she realized that his 'turn' was over. "Now ME!" she yelled happily, and made her own run at Compassion. The game was made all the better by his widening eyes fastening onto her. She too tried to pulled up at the last second, but she, being rather more clumsy than her brother, ended up tripping and nearly knocked into poor Compassion.
Compassion backed up a step as Maladroit tripped, saving himself from the bruises of having her fall on him. He could feel himself shaking a bit--he just couldn't get used to this type of game. Looking down at Maladroit, however, he could see that she was feeling bad about her clumsy manoeuver. True to his name, he felt bad along with her, and quickly looked for a distraction. Fortunately, there was an excellent one just waiting to be noticed. "Hey look, guys, there's another feo our age here." He motioned with his head to where Attack was standing.

Maladroit, running full tilt, had no time to stop when Candy fell down, so she ended up running right into the other baby feo. Her momentum was such that it flipped right over Candy. She landed with a thud, right at the feet of Phenomenon. "Oof!" she exclaimed. Her face twisted up for a good cry, but just then she noticed her brother. Blinking, she looked up. "Oh! Hi Fenanem," she said instead. (She never could quite say his name right.) "Whacha up to?"
Her words drew Compassion's attention back from the grass, and he glanced in curiousity at the new arrival. Hum...there seemed to be something about this so-called Fenanem....Compassion somehow felt a little less shy looking at him, and he wondered if he could get to know the new feo.

Love lets out a long-suffering sigh as she watches the antics of her daugher. "Oh well. Candy is sure to grow out of her adversion for boys sometime soon," she thinks to herself.
Compassion wants to retort to Candy, but his sister runs off before he can do so. He briefly considers chasing after her to ask how she knows the cooties are there, if they're so small. But...that would mean leaving his mother. He decides it's just not worth it, and instead turns his attention towards studying the grass at his feet. He'd been experiementing, but so far he hadn't found any grass that tasted good yet.
Maladroit, on the other hand, is delighted with this new aquaintance. She laughs happily, and starts chasing Candy around. "I'll catch you!" she calls out.

Love smiles down at Candy and gives her an affectionate nuzzle. "Hello, Candy, I'm glad to see you here."
Meanwhile, Compassion is looking at Candy in confusion. He looks himself over, apparently trying to identify the cooties. Finally he looks up. "I don't think I have cooties," he states quietly.
Maladroit stares speachless at Candy for a moment. "Um...Okay." She cockes her head at Candy. "Did you know you have a really long tongue?" she askes.

Two baby Feos enter the Orchard, followed closely by their mothers. Fracture’s Compassion ( www.silvanon.com/pets/images/LxF_Male_085.gif ) quietly follows his mother, Love's Heart ( www.silvanon.com/pets/images/Female_060.gif ). He keeps himself tucked away in her shadow, too shy to step out into the light. Toxin’s Maladroit ( www.silvanon.com/pets/images/TxT_Female_080.gif ), on the other hand, is running circles around her mother, Ocean's Toxin ( www.silvanon.com/pets/images/Silvanon_Female_Adult_007.gif ). Maladroit seems a bit put out by Compassion's timidity. "Compassion, quit being such a scardy-cat!" she bellows at him. He looks up at her, and then cowers down further into his mother's shadow. Maladroit lets out an annoyed puff of air. "Stupid scardy-cat" she mutters to herself. She'd like to go explore the Orchard, but...she wasn't about to do it on her own. Angrily she stomps over to where Compassion is hovering and butts her head against him. "Come on! Move!"
