A dry and rocky river bed lay running across the terrain, the grass had turned a light brown color all life having been extiguished by the lack of water which was just now starting to affect the trees nearby. The only liquid which had run in the river recently was red, and often considered thicker than water the source of which seemed to be from under a recently collapsed pile of rocks. Sitting atop those rocks was a dragon which matched the substance in color, he seemed to be waiting for his next victim... Patiently. www.geocities.com/thalron2002/Leafy/Monerith.html

Another dragon is nearby, though she does not notice the first. She walks slowly, almost forlornly, with her head down a bit, her tail close to her, wings tight against her body. Her eyes don't seem to actually look at anything, except perhaps the dead grass underfoot. Apparently, she's simply wandering, not particularly expecting to come across anyone.

His gaze slowly drifts over to her, a cruel scowl moving across his face as he thought about how helpless she looked... it would be so easy... Too easy... He thought to himself and then his face changed to a simple smirk "Why so sad dear meat?" He says in a calculated tone his smirk widening into a grin to reveal some more of his teeth, some of which shown slightly red.

She starts, flashbacks to an earlier time nearly panicking her into flight. She blinks, and a bit, but not by any means all, of the fear leaves her eyes as she focuses on him. She picks up her head a trifle. "I should have know I would find you here." A slight smirk of her own shows for a moment. She eyes the rock pile, and then returns her gaze to his grin, and elects not to come any closer for the moment. "To answer that question..." her gaze slips around to the surroundings, regaining a bit of the forlorn look. "The autumn is even more apparent in my lands. 'Tis a time when death comes too easily." She pauses, gaze turning inwards for a moment, before snorting. "No prey will even put up a good chase; everything is just running around in a panic before the snow falls..." She shifts, and turns her gaze back to him.

He tilts his head slightly while looking at her, his eyes showing a slight interest... he hadn't heard that that really had mattered to her, perhaps it didn't and was just something she had come up with "My prey almost always put up a good chase, or fight... You should just find something harder." he says as he stands up on the rocks half opening his wings as if deciding wether or not to come at her... his eyes staring straight into hers it was so hard to not see his bloodthirsty tendancies being held just beneath the surface.

"Perhaps I should," she responds. She resists the urge to fidget or flee under his gaze, quite aware that he is capable of more than she would care to think about, but her tail returns to its habit of curling around her hind leg. For a moment, though, she can't help but remember their first meeting, and the scars she still bears have not faded much at all, physically or mentally. "How long has it been?" she mumbles to herself, before shaking her head to clear it.

He looks off to the side and down at the river bed seeming to think for a moment, looking almost peaceful as he does so... But just for a moment as when he looks back his gaze seems even more intense as if he were judging every movement in her body and waiting for even a single shudder or flinch "It has been four months I beleive." he says with a slightly amused chuckle.

"Four months since I last saw you, or since we... met?" She hesitates slightly on the word, but manages to return his gaze without trembling too noticably. I don't remember being quite this... unsettled... last time, she thinks too herself. Perhaps I am becoming more paranoid...

His gaze suddenly moves, barely noticeably at this distance but then he opens his wings fully and jumps, using just a single flap of his wings to help propel him... Landing directly infront of her, sending dust flying out as he lands on the ground forcefully and close enough that the spikes which stick out from his chest got dangerously close to repeating the injury "Since we met, dear meat." he says in his normal voice drowning in barely restrained anger and bloodlust.

She pulls back and shields herself impulsively with a wing from the dust, the tips of her feathers brushing the spikes slightly. "Ah..." she says... returning the wing slowly to its normal position. She takes in the odd tones in his voice, and her eyes narrow slightly as she regards him, new thoughts swirling through her head. A sort of dangerous anger of her own colors her voice slightly, and, after blinking, she looks up at him, her eyes shielding her emotions. "Why is it that I must fear you?" she questions, quite suddenly. "And what is it that you have planned for me?" She snorts and uncurls her tail from around her leg, too far past a point of thinking rationally to care that his spikes are so close to her.

He reaches forward and moves alittle bit of her hair that had been disturbed by his sudden landing "You must fear me if you have a fear of death." he moves his hand slowly across the scars as he moves it back to his side "Planned? Hmph... I have no plans for you, you come and go as you wish... As long as that is so you must come up with your own plans." he says sounding almost annoyed at the second question but not very much so if he was...
Where he had moves his claw along the scars a small smear of blood stayed, not hers and probably not his.

A small smile appears at his answer, and she nods. "Very well." She glances down at the blood, and glances back up at him, a question that she does not voice in her eyes, but only for a few seconds. She looks back down, and out at nothing for another few seconds, and another slight smile spreads across her face. She then looks back up at him. "Once, quite long ago, I vowed that I would not fear death," she says. "Much time has passed, and things are different now, but I haven't quite decided whether pledging such a thing was reckless or not... and whether or not I care."

He looks at her, apparently thinking on what she had said "A pledge means nothing, only the action..." he looks over to where he had been sitting earlier "If you fear death, you will die..." he looks back at her and tilts his head "If you do not fear death you will be killed..." he looks down to the ground and rubs his chin slightly before looking back up and leaning his head forward so that the sides of their faces would touch lightly "If you seek out death you will become it... Hmm... I suppose it is reckless if you wish to live long, though in fear, But that is just my view, Dear meat." he says in a near whisper to her sounding calm, almost nice but still somehow frightening...

She snorts slightly. "None of those ways of looking at it are particularly pleasant, though I can see how they might make sense." She is still for a few moments, apparently mulling things over in her head. She smiles slightly. "And then there are those who simply ignore death..."

He licks her ear "Those that try to ignore it can do so only untill it happens to them." he pulls back from her, letting his face brush against hers gently as he turns and looks back to the pile of rocks "Life is generally unpleasant..." he pauses then grins "Are you hungry?" he asks sounding almost joking... Because she could most likely guess what type of food he would have nearby "Now I only have three." he says with a small grin appearing... It wasn't entirely sure what he was talking about but it seemed familar, possibly related to something they discussed in the past.
