El'Kar'Resh are extraterrestrial shapeshifters who are here to help you. They are story-based adoptables that fill holes in stories or gaps in systems. They genetically alter their own species to become the most useful additions to their environments that they can be.

These were, admittedly, made more with the Nexus in mind (IT'S FULL OF SPACE SHIPS. ), but why can't my crazy sci-fi love come hang out with your magic talking horses? :C

I recognize that the Orchard is probably not somewhere that has many stories, and so this is a shot in the dark. These people will work to fill holes in systems (your realm, for example, might need some builders for something?). Uny and I have several that hang out on space ships, being mechanics. I have others out in the world who are slayers of foul beasts who curse the land. They travel, they adapt.

I'd like, if there's interest, to do 3 of these. So if there's more than 3 people interested, I'll decide by random draw who gets one. If there's fewer, then, um, whatever, right? XD; (I draw weird things....). But If you'd like one, reply with forms?

Lilu-chan, can you give us an example of a story that needs something? I am rather fascinated by the idea behind the El'Karra, but I don't know how to do it. *dumb* XD

Sure, Pega.

The girl in my example is Uny's, from her spaceship. When I was first making them (lol, I haven't made many, but it has been many years), I asked her what she needed, since she wanted one.

"Um. I kind of need someone to work on the engines of my space ship?" was her answer.

Her space ship is a massive story that's full of all sorts of crazy alien dragons (mostly xenomorphs), but none of them were the type that would or could take care of delicate stardrive engines. (You can click about through unykness.pegaruny.com/MagisPrime/ and eventually find her "Deep Black" story. Pel'Alna [the shifty engineer] is part of The Hive in the stats blocks] ).

In another example, I could easily look at one of my own stories: ixris.discalced.net/bishen/morning/ "Needs more monster hunters," I could say (You can never have enough monster hunters, lol). And then, why not a Warrior of the Light to strike down the undead?

I've made them for less, though, too. Willow's example (just a wisp of a thought) would work very well. From just that, it's pretty easy to fill that gap. (She'd need to put up a page, but ... Cultural Liaison is a pretty fun gap to fill. <3 As are Scouts and Merchants <3 )

The thing to bear in mind is that they are not an 'It's pretty! I want it!' adoption. They are a 'Nuts, how do I fill this void? Umm.... Nothing around here is specialized enough for this... errrghhh......' In their universe canon, El'Kar'Resh find the niches that they specialize in, and are not truly happy unless they can fulfill their function to the best of their abilities.

I hope this helps? *sheepish* Uny being the only one who ever did something with her El'Kar'Resh makes it kind of difficult to hold up multiple non-scifi examples. ^^;;;

-->The Realms are my ongoing cyberpet + roleplay character world. There's not much story there at the moment, but once I find myself a good new webhost I'm going to start a serious rehaul and redesign, including more story.
What that story needs: A land surveyor/scout.
-->The Realms add to themselves as the critters within need space. The additions are magically based and the spell is 'programmed' to provide whatever is optimal for the inhabitants, but that can be pretty much any climate and landscape, from desert to roaring waterfalls to peaceful meadows (and ecosystems to match). You never really know what to expect, either, because sometimes the spell determines that things would be most optimal if everyone shifts around a little and an older critter or group gets the new land instead, or if a new area appears in the middle of previously existing territory -- which the older critters may or may not like!
-->The mage who keeps an eye on things has a few tricks up her sleeve that help her maintain a reasonable amount of control over the Realms as she knows them to be, but if her information is out of date she can't keep an eye on the new bits very easily. Therefore, I need someone who is willing and able to basically just wander through and around the Realms on a very regular basis without getting killed by unexpected natural disasters or the critters he/she/it will encounter. The information would need to be reported, but if he/she/it is willing to put up with a spell for that, the mage would be more than happy to set one up that could eliminate the need for constant journeying back to headquarters and/or regular reports. (I didn't see anything about aversion to magic on the info site, but I'd be happy to work around any restrictions that might exist in that regard.)
