Dare I call upon you all again? Tomorrow is the riding test for Mounted Patrol... ee! I know I should do fine, but all the same, nervous! I'm not sure if they do the interview directly after it, or if they wait... *twitch twitch* I should probably plan out what I'm saying for that just in case...

Hehe, I think it went well, but it was rather intense. They're basically hiring whoever they felt did well, at this point, not necessarily a specific amount.
I've been analyzing it in my head, and I really don't know if I'm being overly paranoid or what, lol. Supposedly, they'll be interviewing everyone, so... we'll see! I just hope they send the email about that soon, I'm going nuts waiting for it, heh!

Yay! That's awesome! Just curious: what do you show? Because I show A and Trillium here in Canada...but you might have different circuits? Well, either way, I do Hunter Jumper and Jumper. Dressage, not so much. Eeep.

Hehe, for the team, I show with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association... don't really show aside from that, though. They have both hunt seat and western, I only do hunt seat. Currently, I'm 10 points away from classing up, currently only in Adv. Walk-Trot-Canter, though I've been jumping in lessons for quite a while. Soon as I have those 10 points, I move up to novice flat & jumping Got a 1st at my last show, too... wootwoot! An interesting point about Intercollegiate showing... the horse you're on is randomly drawn for you. So, potentially, you could be on a horse you've never seen before in your life! Such was the case at the last show... I ended up on a handful of a mare, who nearly took off with me. The judge apparently liked the fact that I got her to calm down. Most of our shows, however, are at the same barn we lesson at, so we know most of the horses. Unfortunately, the people who run Mounted Patrol, from what I hear, don't really like the Equestrian team... so I should probably keep it fairly quiet at the interview that I'm on it, heh. As for the details of the mounted patrol riding test... They tested tacking & grooming, then basic walk, trot, trot without stirrups, that sort of thing. Then they had us do a little pattern... trot a figure 8, do a turn on the forehand, then leg yield, repeat leg yield, then canter, repeat canter. Hmm... and collected and extended trot. Most of that we'd never use out patrolling, but I guess it gives them a better idea of riders. A highlight during that part was when the horse I was on, Skylar, tripped and nearly wiped out. I kept my seat. Wooo, my sweet moves showed that I won't fall off that easily! Then came the fun part of the test: Obstacle Course! Had to walk up next to a pillar thingy, lean down and pick up a rock off of it, walk the horse to a bucket, drop the rock in the bucket. Walk the horse over a blue tarp over mud (my horse was like, psssh, this is nothing!) then walk to a yellow rain jacket. Put that on while mounted, wave, take it off... then the extra fun part! Had to walk the horse into a rectangle of 4 cones, then they proceeded to open umbrellas quickly in his face, shake caution tape, etc etc to spook the horsie. Mine spooked a bit, but calmed right down Yay! After that, they made us switch horses (and mount from the ground, ick! I prefer to find anything at all to use, lol) then walk and trot, then switch again, so that we would have ridden all 3 of the patrol horses. A bit nerve wracking, but fun!

Wow! Sounds like quite a challenge! I hate going right from collected to extended. Ew. I always look so sloppy.
I like that part about not knowing what horse you're going to ride. It makes you a better rider because you have to learn to handle all sorts of horses. Me, I have my own horses, so I don't get that sort of experience. But jumping is so much fun. The highest I've ever gone is 3'3, which isn't much I guess, except that I was on a pony! Hehe. Hunter I find isn't as interesting because all the courses are like outside, outside, diagonal, diagonal, outside. Yuck. Bounces are the best, though. And jumping without stirrups. It's hard, but wicked fun!
Anyways, from the way you described everything, looks like you're in! Or, at least, you should be! Heh.
