I quite liked, "Why is the rum ALWAYS gone?" Then he stands up, realizes he's drunk and says, "OH, that's why." XD

Whooo, I saw it too. The reviews were actually pretty bad in the papers, and some of what they said was true, but overall, I thought it was fun *g* It's going to be a long wait till the third movie comes out. Somehow I the dirt jar didn't make as much impact on me as it seems to have done for everyone else, but I liked that "Where did all the rum go" scene Weird thing was, last night there was a movie called The Man Who Cried (or something similar) about a girl falling in love with a "poor, but handsome gypsy" during WWII. I was curious who'd they'd pick as the "handsome" guy....it was Johnny Depp. ^_^

I think that part of why I was so amused by the jar of dirt was because of Brian Regan, a comedian that had a thing about bringing in a Cup of Dirt as a science project in school, and that's all I could think, hehehe.

And I was greatly amused by one of Jone's crewmen in the dice scene, behind Will's right shoulder, he had a trouser eel XD I'm such a horrible person ^_^

Oh so that's what is was moving around on that guy! If that's the one you're talking about!
Saw it! Yippy and it just rocks my socks! Though when I was in the theater this one poor kid (had to be 9-10 something) kept getting grossed out by some of the scenes and would run out of the room with his hands either over his ears or his mouth. The kid did this many times throughout the whole movie.

I think the next one is due out next Memorial Day, actually, not Labor Day. And yeah... I saw it again, too, last night!

I'm not sure if I'm going to go see it. The extreme fangirls are kind of scary, plus regular pirates are more interesting. I'm also miffed that they're gutting the original rides to make them fit with the movie.

I'm also miffed that they're gutting the original rides to make them fit with the movie. they are?!!!??! ::twitch:: that was by far my favorite attraction...why...? The movie did have a few scenes that were very close to the rides. Like the prisoners and the dog... And...fangirls in general are no fun. 'Tis why I never enjoyed concerts. I can't stand people singing and screaming. I can't even stand it when people sing along to anything. Escpecially when they don't know the lyrics, so they hum and only sing the chorus. But that's getting off topic XD

Yeah, they're putting Jack and undead pirates in it at least... From wikipedia (they have a summary of the new ride there)
In 2006, Walt Disney Imagineering debuted refurbishments at Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean feature films to coincide with the release of the second movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Described by Imagineers as an "enhancement" to the attraction's existing storyline, the refurbishments included Audio-Animatronic figures of Captain Jack Sparrow and Barbossa, along with new special effects, improved lighting and audio, and an appearance by the films' supernatural character Davy Jones, all voiced by the original actors. The skeleton scenes in the Magic Kingdom version are now accompanied by a quiet, melancholy instrumental version of "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)."
The modifications had been criticized by some Disneyland fans who maintain that as the final attraction developed by Walt Disney, it should remain as originally envisioned in the 1960s. Despite the backlash, many fans support the updates, citing Disney's wishes to have Disneyland forever changing, and the fact that except for the addition of several new Audio-Animatronics and some updated effects, the original ride experience is largely unchanged.

It's already happened. A friend of mine went to see it, she said that the changes were not at all intrusive.

I think the movie was "decent" on the entertaining level, but I personally feel that Jack Sparrow does not belong in any movie as serious as this. However, an awesome sequel could make this movie worthwhile.
Don't get me wrong, it was fun, but it wasn't really the PIRATES that I expected. This was more Pirates of the Atlantic Ocean, or something...

Johnny Depp made me sad inside by continuing to do this ;_; I mean, nobody else could ever play such an amazing Jack Sparrow, but... Johnny is normally the one taking all the unpredictable, undesirable, and unconventional roles in the strangest movies he can find. I admired him for that so much, the fact that his TV show fandom made him anti-fangirls and anti-teen dream hunkmaster. He didn't want to be a piece of meat to be flaunted around on a screen... but ever since PotC... well, I can name a lot of fanclubs that have started up. I'm guessing he expected Jack Sparrow to be a lot less appealing when he initially took the role, and it just didn't work out that way.
But erm XD for comment on the actual movie, I liked it. The ending made me almost smack a bald guy in front of me, but other than that it was the typical Johnny Depp kids movie. They strayed a littttle bit from the pirate aspect of the initial movie with all the Davey Jones stuff, but I'm hoping the next film will concentrate less on slimey monster things and more on piratey goodness *nods*.
