@_@ One does not -own- a pah'llock. One may be a keeper of a pah'llock, a companion of a pah'llock, anything of the like... but they are their own creatures. ...I probably sound really harsh, but it is something that always bothered me.

Truth and absolutely so Cynther! Allani and I salute you and well worded.
That is how I have always felt, more so for the Pah'llocki than any other creature online - they are [glow=blue,2,300]not pets[/glow]. Thats why I refuse to 'sell' them - I would love to make a little supplement to my income from the Tir but one does not sell proud, kind and intellegent friends. [glow=purple,2,300]That is why Pah'llocki will never be for sale. [/glow] Art will be though - that it happens to include or depict a Pah'llock who has already found a home is of no ivory to me (not something precious to itself). Its strange how much the sapiency of the Mahnon Pah'llocki means to me: and I miss hearing others Roleplay though I did little of it myself.

Um, you guys, I don't think we need to start jumping down people's throats over this issue. The fact is that the giving away of critters, regardless of how it takes place, is a separate event from the fantasy world where they are so-called sentinent beings.
In RL, if someone pays real money for an artist's work, or if that artist chooses to give that person the results of their labors, that person can very well say that they own that piece of artwork. The piece of artwork is a floppy piece of paper, or a bunch of 0's and 1's that make up a graphic. It has no life of it's own.
This is totally separate from the fantasy RP world, where the creature is imagined to be a really breathing thinking creature, and it becomes more than just paper or 1's and 0's. In the RP world, the creature certainly would not be considered to be owned by someone.
I think we can, and indeed, for the sake of the community and communal harmony, must, keep the two worlds separate.
This forum is for the buying, selling, and giving away of cyberpets, in a Real World context. Those of you who wish to bring in an RP context may do so, but please, don't go bashing those who choose not to do so. OC is only OC if you're in an RP, and that's a different forum.

*sits beside Silvanon and looks around* You know, I didn't mean anything by it at all. And I appreciate you standing up for me Silv. I have my own adoption, and I feel each one I draw has it's own personality. I know what owning an adoption agency is like.
But it is a drawing on a piece of paper. I was not refering to the character by any means but the fact that I am the keeper perhaps of that piece of art as long as DH is generous enough to allow. *shrug*
