The faint sound of approaching footsteps distracted her attention from her challenger, and head crest still raised in agitation, her triangular head swiveled to fixate gaze on a new direction. Judging by the speed and heaviness of the footfalls, this new trespasser was of decent size, and certainly larger than herself. Far from being daunted easily, but also far from being reckless, the decision is made to evacuate the immediate area. She already had one Tyviron, or so she thought, to battle and she'd rather not have a second creature to consider.
Moments before Nova would burst through the foliage and onto the spot the Tyviron had been occupying, the saurian hissed shrilly and darted toward the origin of the first challenging roar in a flash of color.

Hidden by the undergrowth, Iladri had but a moment to consider. He tried to judge the creature's mind as he saw her rushing on the path, on her way past him. She was magnificant, too - much more amazing than he had imagined.
Calling magic to himself, the wizard wondered if she would be able to sense him.He led a gust of wind swirling around himself, and then towards some bushes along the path. With a big, mental heave he made the bushes part, showing the open path behind. The light in the air, residue from using the magic, made the path as obvious as if it had been a green neon sign pointing the way out.
Would she choose the escape route? Iladri fervently hoped so, as of now the only other thing he could think of was not a very appealing alternative.

The path was indeed noticed by the fleeing Tyviron, and for a fleeting moment she contemplated whether to use it. It was more open than her alternative, which meant her movement would be swifter. However, it also meant she would be more vulnerable to the eyes of others. A quick dash to the side before detection would save her from that problem, and so without another moment's hesitation she darted down the wizard-formed path.

With a whispered incantation, Iladri released the spell he had prepared, behind himself and the fleeing creature a solid wall of light formed, visible for a moment only. Maybe it would be strong enough to keep other animals out. he didn't know what she was fleeing from, but he sure didn't want that at his back!
Slowly, he followed the tyviron, this time not only slowed by his limp, but also careful not to startle it even more.

Nova skidded to a halt just before the light-wall, sniffing it curiously. (Her Sight enabled her to see all things cloaked or invisible, as well as making her immune to all visual magics, so she was able to see/"sense" it. ^^) Eyes glowing violet, she touched her nose to the barrier, her interest risen from a mild flame to a roaring fountain. What was this, that caused such havoc in her home? She could tell from its scent that it was reptilian, but not much more.
Gritting her teeth, she pushed against the wall, fighting to get through. Very, very slowly, she sank through it... Her head and shoulders had managed to squeeze past when she stiffened. She scented man... whatever the reptilian thing was, it was being hunted.

Still Shinken waited. Patience was ever a virtue, after all. However she paced now, length tail lashing idly behind. What's keeping it? she wondered. Had mother mentioned competition? She couldn't recall. Then again if her mother wanted it, the creature was probably ludicrously rare. Gods- so now there was competition? She'd loose another bellow, one less loud than those before it and expressing moreso her impatience. It was a mock to her challenger, threatening not to wait before claiming. Let's just hope this was the creature she wanted....

Ilradri halted, he could hear the tyviron moving in front of him, though the leaves were too thick for him to spot more than a glimpse. "Here, " he said, "Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you." He didn't much know what he was saying, just wanted her to hear his voice.

The mage stumbled and fell to his knees. Breathing heavily, he forced himself upright, leaning on his staff. The pain in his head ebbed away, leaving only the usual ache in his shoulders. Someone had managed to break through his spell. He stood still, listening for a moment. he could hear the lizard in front of him still, but behind him all was silent. Silent as the fall of the hunter's paws... He thought about placing another, stronger, obstacle, and realized he couldn't risk it. Unconsciously, the mage shifted his grip on the staff, his strength was taxed already. he might need some reserves.
He wondered exactly how bright this tyviron actually was. The knowledge he had was second hand and even third hand facts. Anyway, he decided to go for the shortcut. He had a feeling he was running out of time. With another incantation, he raised another wall of light, blocking the tyviron's path in front of her.

The tyviron froze in her steps when she heard the voice, her elegant head turning to seek out the source. For a moment she stood stockstill, the feathers upon her head quivering lightly in an unseen breeze while unblinking eyes studied the mage. Then, with a sharp hiss, words flowed from between her jaws. Her speech was crude and sounded more like a whistle or a hiss, but words were certainly discernible to an attentive listener.
"Hhhhhurt me? No, sssstranger will not, indeed. I go! Challenger callsss..." With a snap of her teeth, the female swirled around to race off, only to find a wall of light blocking the way. Hissing in annoyance, she wasted only a few seconds during her reaction before she fled alongside the wall at top speed, headed unknowingly toward Nova.

The elven mage drew himself up in front of her gaze. "Elbereth!" He whispered to himself, but tried to keep his outer composure, he had never dreamed that she would be able to speak. Maybe this wasn't such a great idea afterall... But realizing his chance was almost gone, he quickly called out to her. "No, wait! I might help you. Yes! Why should someone as magnificant as yourself waste your strength on such a petty challanger? I might help you get rid of this insignificant problem... and maybe afterwards, you'll consider paying your attention to a proposal that might prove very beneficial to both of us....?" Afraid that he had chosen too big words, he added as explanation and encouragment. "It is a suggestion that might be very good for both you and me."
With a swift movement, he released the wall obstructing her path. If the female would choose to listen, magic could not come in way of the trust he wanted to grow between them. If not, he could chase her again...
