Lex, have you ever read any Edward Abbey books? I think you'd like him; all his books and novels reflect his strong environmentalist beliefs. He wrote my absolute favorite book ever, The Monkey Wrench Gang (and the sequel, Hayduke Lives!), about a little band of "eco-terrorists" out west in the deserts. Abbey's kind of an old, dirty hippie, so his books are often over the top, and some people could find his language offensive, I guess, but it all works for a definite literary and political purpose.
