Bloody freaking hell >_< *kills her DA account*
The bastards are saying that just because we put OUR work on THEIR site, it gives then legal right to use it however they please, and we can't do a thing about it >_<

hmmmmm no not really. Sure that is what it Implies but is it what they really mean? Sounds more to me they just want the right to post thumbnails or pictuires of artist's works as examples to promote the site to others.

wtf, I can't remove my stuff or close my account >_<
I think I'm gonna post (insert badstuff here) and get my account deleted
Actually, the way it reads is that they have the right to slap their name and yours on something, and your art on T-Shirts and crap, and they get the profits and you can't do crap about it

Yeah, but would they really do that without asking first? I mean come on, logos and stuff usually have the permission of the artist. There is a bunch of legal stuff about this aside from that agreement thing. I do believe the atrtist get some sort of payment before hand.
I say check out the forums about this there are bound to be threads of info about it.
Also I don't think the artists around here or even the greater number of artists have anything to worry about. Pros on the other hand...maybe. I dunno I'd really like to hear all sides before going ape-crap on this.

It's in the upload agreement, you can't upload anything without agreeing that they can use it however they want.

*shrugs* still not likely that they will use anything.
And fine then don't upload. People will come to their senses sooner or later.

That's why I left dA. Their crap policies got me too ticked off, and they also let people copy other people's drawings and take credit for all of it. Now they're claiming our artwork as their own. Gee, and I thought the world had enough idiots.

Sheezyart doesn't do that exactly. They want promotional rights for the submission, but they don't own it completely. And that's why I use sheezy.

DA did the same thing, in fact that was the way it was, until now.
Seeing how it's been with every other free gallery thing, it's only a matter of time.

Hmm... I see your point, but it sounds more like dA just wants to use our artwork for commerical purposes, while sheezy just wants it for advertising. I hope it doesn't convert. *clings to artwork*

It just starts out that way until the site gets so big and has so many artists that it starts getting greedy.
sort of works like this. "Hey, we've been letting these people show off their artwork for free for years and gotten practically nothing for it. It's about time we got something for all this. It's our site, they post art on it, it should be within our rights to claim the art and use it." Then they start adding more clauses to the Agreements over time.
How big a site is Sheezy anyways? Only started hearing about it very recently.

Hum...as far as the first highlighted bit, that's just saying that if you upload something, you're assuring DA that you own the copyright. And if you upload something that's copyrighted to someone else, and that someone else tries to sue DA over it, they're going to pass the cost on to you. *shrugs* That sounds fair to me.
The second paragraph didn't have the preceeding line highlighted, which says "You are agreeing that we have the right to use your name and likeness on our websites solely in connection with the promotion and marketing of our business. "
Basically that they can use stuff you put on DA to market DA, and they don't have to pay you for that.
