Mmmmhmmmm. Miyazaki's latest.. he's the guy who made Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and all of those delightful films. I have to say, though.. Howl's is probably my favorite out of all of them.

It's based on the book by Diana Wynne Jones. ^^ A young girl working in a hat shop in a fantasy world gets into some trouble, and a wizard named Howl shows up and helps her (Howl is famous for being a womanizer and stealing/eating pretty girl's hearts). However, being close to him gets her involved in some troublesome things, and she ends up with a curse that turns her into a 90-year old lady. Howl lives in a castle that just kinda.. walks around the place, and when the girl leaves the city, she eventually finds herself a part of Howl's castle, and becomes his cleaner. Love blossoms between the two of them as war unfolds in the background.
It's got some awesome things including Howl's personal fire demon, as well as the fact that Howl can turn into a bird-like creature. @_@ -points to avatar- that would be him. Sounds like a serious storyline, but it's actually a really funny movie. XD

Sadly, the book is out of print. I'm seeking out a copy right now, as I used to have one, but it vanished. x.x

That's funny you mention that because I saw an ad for it on Yahoo! today and watched the trailer. I love Spirited Away and I've read the manga Nausicaa so I'm totally interested. Miyazaki seems to have a gift for creating really neat female characters (Mononoke anyone?) and then there's the amazing imagery. Mm.

Oooh, the book is in print! I got it through the Science Fiction Book Club (SFBC.com or SFBC.ca) in an omnibus called Wizard's Castle. Double checked and it is indeed still available, along with her Dalemark Quartet. The Chrestomanci books are no longer listed.
Amazon.com seems to have it too....
Haven't had a chance to read it yet, though maybe I'll push it to the top of my list now ^.^ Does one need to read the Chrestomanci books first? Are they even related?
I saw all the other movies listed except Castle in the Sky. I haven't seen tons of anime but I like these because they're more lighthearted.
So many books to read, so little time to read them...
