I use Dreamhost, and I've had nothing but good experiences with them. I ... actually haven't tried anyone else yet, so I can't say if they're the best, but they're good for me. XD www.dreamhost.comIf you're looking for free, I vote GeoCities too. The only reason I switched and got a domain was because I was tired of the geocities.com thing in front of all my pages and that I was getting fed up with those ads.... @_@

I use www.handzon.com. It really quick and easy. If you want free *shrugs* I've never had a free site before, so I wouldn't know.

I just switched to these guys the other day actually. Awesome so far and the prices are good. My boyfriend has been using them for a number of years. www.totalchoicehosting.com/

I personally use ipowerweb.com
Good service; never had any problems with them. Except once I found out that my package had been upgraded (about 6 months after I bought it) and I asked them if I was allowed to upgrade when renewing with their service--and they upgraded me immediate, because it was my package ^_^;;
Not that I need all the space they gave me ...

I bet you could use all that space.. ;D
Yeah, my vote goes for Geocities. I've had a Geocities account for 7 or 8 years and I've never had a problem.

Um, if you're looking for just a domain name, and not an actual site, www.godaddy.com has pretty much the best rates I've seen. If you're looking for paid website server space, I use Hasweb: www.hasweb.com/hosting.shtml?cifmh=681110I got my domain name through GoDaddy and Hasweb's business plan, and it's been really good.

my research indicates Dreamhosts and being the best one I've seen thus far for prices
you should be able to get a domain for $6 a year, that seems to be the standard lowest price.

If you want a free host I really like Freewebs.com

For free hosts, please don't pick angelfire or Tripod...for some reason, when I am on my iMac with Mozilla, both Tripod and Angelfire sites will load for a few seconds, then become a blank white page. drago

Free host wise, I agree, don't go with Tripod or Angelfire. Their pop ups are extraodinarily annoying.
I use Powweb.com and haven't had any complaints. Recently I looked at a few others with a friend who was looking for a new host and found that Powweb.com was pretty good, if not the best one out there (space, bandwidth and feature-wise). Though it may offer more than you're interested in, in which case you can find cheaper ones out there that give you less. You can buy the domain name through them for $15, though you could probably buy it through that cheaper site and Powweb will still host it.
