My sypathies...If I didn't want my money for Macakinaw (sp?) island this weekend I'd go out and buy it right this minute (well, actually, I'd have to wait for soemone to come home who could drive but oh well). But...I want my money for the island....horse carriages and fudge and suveniors and nifty things like that.

;D
Well, technically it's two places. Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island. They're both pronounced Mack-eh-knaw. A bridge connects the mainland to the island, and it's in Michigan. I know they're famed for their fudge...
My family, and most of my mom's siblings families, are going up there for the weekend. We're staying at my uncle's house in Alpena one night, in Mackinaw City the second, and on the island in the Grand Hotel on the third.
I know they have carriage tours of the island, and horseback riding, and I think I may attempt to convince my mom to let me do both.....It's going to be lots of fun.
This is why I'm not buying Valiant! ;D

Goodness what a sacrifice! But I stand behind your decision, it isn;t everyday you get horseback riding and fudge all wrapped up in one fantastical package...besides waiting makes the final read all the more sweeter...maybe even more so then the fudge...*winks* You have fun though! Wish we had something like that in Kansas, all we have is the Biggest Ball of Twine and the Deepest Hand Dug Well.....

There'd be no Austin city.. something something.. No Lone Star of anykind! If it wasn't for Texas...* lol, love that song ;D

The only part I don't look forward to is the driving...we live in indiana so it's a good six hours to the upper areas of Michigan at least.
It's in the very upper part, as far up as you can get without being in the upper pininsula (sp?).
Tang is from Texas. She thinks it's much beter than indiana because it's not humid there, just hot. But unfortunately for her, she lives in Indiana and her mom doesn't seem to be planning to move any time soon!

I'm a Michigan girl here. But I've never been to Mackinac!
