Yep, apparently they installed four shiny-new tanning beds for the programmers to use! Mmm, priorities ^__^

Agreed >O
Well, that and the fact that they're filling the building additions to the studio with stuff like tanning beds and special rock from some quarry halfway around the world. Better to eliminate the people than the luxuries, I guess ^__^

Apparently it's because the release of the PS3 has been bumped back, and so there's not much to do for the next few months. Not to mention that EA's been suffereing lately anyways.. there was a layoff of about 5% of the whole company a couple months ago.

I've been with them about 10 months.. would have been a year this May! There's people getting fired who've worked here a lot longer than me, though, so the general mood is understandably gloomy today. A lot of people just went home.

Well, I figure at least it was most of us, instead of just a few.. I think I'd feel a bit worse if I'd been one of a select few to get fired XD; All us people who're getting fired went out and had a nice lunch together. But yeah, totally classy company, not giving us enough time to find new work ^__^

Wow, what a day it's been! Today me and about 90% of the other game testers found out that we're not being recontracted! Our last day is next Friday! So now I'm officially out of work.
Nice of them to tell us with enough time to get a new job, eh?
So that's been my day today. How's everyone else doing?

My boyfriend broke up with me yesterday.
So now I have no boyfriend, no job, and soon I'll have no home.
How's everyone else doing?

The blurb on the back of the book reads:
Something was happening in Bobbi Anderson's idyllic small town of Haven, Maine. Soemthing that gave every man, woman, and child in town powers far beyond ordinary mortals. Something that turned the town into a death trap for all outsiders. Something that came from a metal objevt, curied for millennia, that Bobbi accidentally stumbled across. It wasn't that Bobbi and the other good people of Haven had sold their souls to reap the rewards of the most deadly evil this side of hell. It was more like a diabolical takeover.. an invasion of body and soul - and mind..
Cheerful, eh?
Heh, I read a lot of manga too.. can't afford to buy it, so I just devour whatever I can find at the library.
*sets up Amanayr breedings in an attempt to get working on something..*

It's by Meredith Ann Pierce. Unicorns, yay! I remember reading the first book back in daycare when I was 10 or so, and then being amazed years later when I found that it was actually a series.
I rather like The Long Walk.. I'm actually currently reading a Stephen King, The Tommyknockers. One of his longer ones.
Heh, I read a lot of Mercedes Lackey, too.. but I've read all of her Valdemar books so many times that I have to give them a rest for a while.

I agree that breaks are often necessary.. I just need to enjoy mine and stop feeling so bloody guilty >_<;; That's always my problem.
I've been focusing on rather 'easy' books lately.. things like the Shopaholic series, Stephen King, Bridget Jones.. some cookbooks (to try and inspire me to cook, not working).. light and easy reading.
Have you read the Firebringer series? Most excellent. Think I'll start in on that one when I get home..

*shrugs* I've been reading a lot lately (well, more than usual.. gone from a book or two a week to a book or two a day), but then I feel guilty because there's so much I need to do.
Argh. Stupid endless feedback loop things.
Ah well.

Same old, same old. I whine about my life in my LJ enough, I suppose.
Blah. One of the things I hate most about being depressed is not being able to do art.. so much I have to do, so little inclination to do it >_<
