Lately I've been pondering selling cyberadoption-related 'potions' and such, but for RL monies. I used to offer 'potions' and things back in my market days, such as a 'potion' that would ensure a Samanayr gave birth to twins, or a potion that would ensure that the foal had wings. Basically it's an item that guarantees a specific trait or other thing for the offspring of whatever creature.
I guess this could work a couple of ways.
- I could sell the 'items' along with a guarantee of snagging a spot during the next breeding round. This would make them more limited, as I'd probably only want one or two reserves per round. - I could offer the 'items' as additions for commission breedings, ensuring that certain traits appear or are created.
These 'items' would be limited in quantity so that I wouldn't suddenly get overwhelmed with rainbow butterfly-winged Mystics all of a sudden XD
It's just a thought ^_^

It sometimes seems like all of my 'big' critters need a smaller counterpart. Amanayrs have Samanayrs, Rashas have dragonets.. ..and now Enkeyn have Sa'enkeyn! They were illegally bred and maically altered to be much smaller than normal Enkeyn, more the size of a household pet. They use to be found only in the homes of the wealthy, but now they are all being removed and taken to homes where they are not treated as pets, but as the intelligent creatures that they are. Expect to see more of these guys around, I just wanted to show them off ^__^

Well, to make a fair comparism, you'd have to take into account that I usually charge $5-10 for an image that size, the lineart and coloring are unique, the image can be customized, and they also receive the original piece of art in the mail (if they want it).
And just for the record, I do have to put up with a fair amount of immaturity and whining - I just keep it to e-mail and PM, rather than making it public ^_^;
And now I'm going back to being baffled by this >_>

I was debating writing up a post of my own, but then decided against it. These people are just determined to have total control over what goes on there, and trying to debate with them is just like hitting your head against a brick wall repeatedly. They're just not open to suggestions at all.
The person who posted that does seem to start more new threads than anyone.. heavens forfend anyone point that out, though.

It appears that someone is having trouble grasping that (gasp) their small community is growing and is trying to wrangle total control over it again XD Silly Pony Island adoptables..

So my Samanayr draw ended up with 10 entries - most of them from Orcharders XD That's a bit of a far cry from my usual 30 or 40 entries! Perhaps people are afraid that the PIPSA will eat them alive if they try to participate XD

I was thinking the same as Sera, actually XD; It's a cute idea and I'm quite happy to take my 20 day trial-run, but they could get in serious trouble if Hasbro gets wind that they're charging people to play with ponies..

Just because DA hasn't done anything to take advantage of peoples' art doesn't mean that they're not going to. They're a 'for profit' company, after all.
As the linked document states, the submission agreement would still be functional and binding without the 'we own the rights forever!' clause and without several other nastier parts of the agreement. Is there really any reason for DA to own not just the rights to your art, but the rights forever?
EDIT: And in the end, it's really up to each individual whether or not they're comfortable agreeing to that kind of thing ^_^ I'm just trying to get the word out so that people can make an informed choice.
