The Tokala: An Instant Guide
Tokala is a Native American name meaning ‘Fox’ and it suits the creature that was given about seven years ago. The Tokala looks more like a cross between a Fox and a Cat then just a Fox but it does have some several differences then a normal Fox.
The Tokala has been bred to come in five sizes: Tiny, Small, Medium, Large, and Huge.
Medium Tokalas are the most common type found around, the Tiny and Small are some what common but not as much as the Medium. The Large and Huge Tokalas are the rarest of all Tokala because breeders are not sure if they will make good pets.
The Tokalas all have a thick coat of fur which seems to glow; it also feels like just silk. The coat comes in many colors and patterns which are common in some but rare in others. A Tokala with a single fur color is called a ‘Solid’ and the colors which come in the Solid are: Black, Brown, Chocolate, Cinnamon, and Red.
Out of those colors come the ‘Dilute’ colors which are: Blue, Lilac, Fawn, and Cream. After that are the ‘Modified’ colors and they are: Caramel (dark), Caramel (medium), Caramel (light) and Apricot.
The Tokala also has a thick mane of fur around the neck which is always lighter then the body color. It is sometimes a Fawn or Honey color. Tokala tails are long, very thick and furry plus they always have a white or black tip on the end. Tokala when going to sleep will warp their bushy tails around their bodies which makes them look like a round fur ball but it is record they can sleep in temperatures of under -40 degrees or more.
The Tokalas ears are long and pointed which stand about 2 to 30 or more cm tall and they slowly curve towards the ends just like a banana. The ear tips are always black.
Some colors like White can be only found in the Japanese Tiny and the American Arctic. Sliver and Sable are rare as well but sometimes show up in the medium and small, even still they are hard to keep true. After about a 3 years the color will start to faint away and kits born to Parents are poor colored. But breeders are still trying and so far there are 8 recognized breeds.
Breeds: based on state, color, and size
Japanese Tiny: smallest Tokala, mostly pure white with black tipped ears and tail
American Red: medium Tokala with a rich red coat, black tipped ears and black or white tipped tail
American Black: medium Tokala with a rich black coat, black tipped ears and white tipped tail
American Brown: medium Tokala with a rich brown coat, black tipped ears and black or white tipped tail
American Cinnamon: medium Tokala with a rich cinnamon coat, black tipped ears and black tipped tail
American Arctic: largest Tokala, mostly pure white with black tipped ears and tail
Canadian Chocolate: medium Tokala with a rich chocolate coat, black tipped ears and white tipped tail
British Fan Tail: small Tokala, tail is carried arched up over the back and flowing to either side (right or left) of the body, mostly a Fawn or Caramel color and tail is black tipped along with ears.
Thanks.
