"It's...something I want to forget," Mageshifter says, though it's because he knows he can't go back. And that he doesn't know Dark's been slowly messing with his mind, so he wouldn't want to. "A past that I'm no longer a part of, though it's still part of me..." He formed a tiny fireball with a paw, and quickly extingished it, "That's why I'm.....so nervous around...other K'd...." Mageshifter continued, "I was...not around many. They..used me to deal with...larger creatures."
Like Dark herself. But he wasn't going to say that.

"We're sorry to dredge up your past," Speckledsnow began, mortified that they were doing exactly as they said they would not.
"They who?" Mothwing asked, still watching him through her lashes.

"Mages.." Mageshifter said quietly, his voice trembling. He was shaking, too many memories resurfacing. His eyes grew fearful as he looked back at the two does, and he broke out in a run, howling in anguish and running through the orchard and away from the pair.
If they followed, they'd find he didn't get to far. Or at least a K'd that looked like Mageshifter was hiding in the long black coat of a female human.
"Mage, get out of there," the human said, slightly annoyed.
"They'll hurt me!" he whined, clinging to her back.

"Ara!" Speckledsnow gasped, eyes wide as her heart broke from the buck. Mothwing frowned, then moved after him. "Mothwing!" the white doe chastised her friend, following after. "I think you've done enough to him."
The small green doe ignored her, stopping when she saw the human, cringing backwards. Speckledsnow came alongside the other doe, ears pricking up when she heard Mageshifter's voice. "I'm so sorry, Mageshifter," she said quickly. "I mean, we didn't mean to-"
"I did," Mothwing said quietly, voice shaking slightly in fear of the woman. "I want to know who he is, really."
"Mothwing," the other doe said again, voice somewhere between her astonished motrification and apology. She didn't know wot to say.

The woman just eyed the mothwinged doe, though she was more interested in getting Mageshifter out of her coat.
"I want to thank you to ruining months of rehabilitation," the woman said to Mothwing, frowning, "Who he IS is Mageshifter, a right now rather frightened K'd...get OUT of my coat!"
At that moment he did. Though a portal in the lining. Mageshifter had gone home.
The human flops down on the ground, sighing, "Happy?"

"No," Mothwing answered, voice still trembling. "Why wouldn't he tell us?"
Speckledsnow shook her head in exasperation. Of all the times and of all the things to grow a backbone about. . . ><;

"Because he's scared," Dark says, sighing a bit, "Scared of K'ds...of being hated by them because of his time with the Mages..that he knows some of their magics, though he's not as strong as the accual mages. And worse...he scared of loosing control."
Dark grew silent then.

Mothwing shudders slightly, vaguely remembering her time with the genetic splicing, memories she carefully kept tapped down and under control. Dark gaze darts up to Dark briefly then away again.
"He seems to be doing well in control," Speckledsnow notes quietly. "Excellently well."

"Perhaps...but then, one can't tell," Dark says with a shrug, "Something larger...well, he seems to have no qualms about taking on large things...Fireballed my mate once." Dark looked slightly amused at that, "If you can imagine a K'd taking on a fifty foot dragon..."
She coughs a bit, "It's the smaller things...he doen't want to hurt them." She closes her eyes, seemingly concentrating.

"Was he okay?" Speckledsnow asked worriedly, noticing then that Dark's attention seemed to be elsewhere. She waited silently.
Mothwing watched the woman uneasily, but her mind seemed to be elsewhere as well.

Dark looked up, then nodded, a slight smile on her face, "Oh, yah, he was fine. Grelene thought it was funny, accually."

"He sounds. . . very interesting," Speckledsnow said, eyes widening slightly. Wot kindof woman had a dragon for a mate that didn't mind something trying to kill him? oO;;;;;;

Dark chuckled a bit, "Well, he's rather laid back...gets amused at just about anything, really."
She glanced back over at Mothwing, but said nothing more.
