Magic hummed in the air. A young mage and her master were going over spells. The frail man was passing on his secrets to the girl. He was weak and want the ways to die. So he had taken an apprentice. She had real talent and a natural connection with magic. Today they were going over simple Summoning and transforming spells. But the man noticed a change, a discordant note in the eerie harmony. "Do you hear that?" His voice was a weak croak. What? Pure joy laced her voice as she directed the magic. "Stop!" The old man cryed. The magic was wrong. The girl turned, her dark hair whipped out behind her, from the forces she controlled. A desperate light filled her violet eyes as the magic slipped past her control. She screamed as pain lanced through her. All was bright, then dark. The man had died, trying to stop the forces in the room, trying to protect the girl. The girl lived, but was changed, now and forever. She blinked awake as the sun shone through the destroyed house. She looked down at her arm, and gasped. No! Not this!
The girl slid through the forest, a cloak concealing her, the deep hood hiding her face. She was going to the house where it started, like she did every year. Her hand was curled a staff of dark wood and silver. She paused and looked around. Had she heard something? Were the Hunters back for her?

A loud voice issued from the treetops. "Who goes there?"
"Mortal who dares travels in these woods." Said another voice, this one coming from the ground.
"If you are foe we do not fear you!"
"For we are great warriors!"
"And great spellbinders!"
"So Beware! Beware! Be- Oh, this ridiculous! From the shadows of the trees a ginger cat with the brightest and greenest of eyes appeared. His feline head was looking upward at one the tall trees. "Can we stop this stupid charades, I mean nobody is going to be impress with these cheesy forewarnings and all this other slop!"
From above the trees out came a fairy, clad in armor and a silver sword in his one hand. he fluttered with wings of green and gold, down until he was only a few feet above the girl.
"Oh, pish-posh! Tapio!" he said looking at his cat with his deep blue eyes. "I was trying to have a little fun!"
The cat, Tapio, stuck out his pink tongue and the fairy very childish did likewise.
Turning his attention back to the girl he pointed his sword at her and said. "Now for you, like what I and Tapio said before, what are you doing here?"

The whipped around. Her hood slipped off, revealing her face. It was not human for sure. It appeared....... draconian? Silver scales covered her slightly elongated face. Her purple eyes glinted. To honor an old friend. She eyed the fairy and cat. And chuckled. These two were but gnats to her suffering. Besides, her magic could easily take of them. I am Lunasa. Her mouth quirked into wry smile. She hadn't used that name in a while. Since that fateful day nearly 10 years earlier. When her master had saved her. The staff in her hand was his last gift to her.

The fairy eyes widen in surprise and let out a gasp seeing her inhuman face. He was not frighten by her odd appearance -being a knight and all- nor considered her looks to be evil. But rather he thought her dragon-like features was very lovely looking.
Tapio on the other hand, just twitched his whisker and muttered. "Thought so...Not human."
"Honoring an old friend, you say?" The fairy smiled suddenly "Sounds good to me!" Putting away his sword he bowed to the girl and in a cheery voice he said. "My name is Sir Falaroy, Knight of the Fairy Kingdom!" He gestured a hand at the cat. "And this is my noble steed Tapio!"
Tapio lifted and waved a paw. "Yo." He said and then began to clean himself.

Wow, usually when people saw her they were afraid or called her a demon. Well then, Sir Falaroy, Tapio, let's go. She pulled her hood back up and started walking again. The staff kept a steady beat, its dark wood gleaming with care. They would soon be seeing the house. Cloaked and hidden and like every year, tears slid down her face. Why? Why had it happened? She sighed. She hoped that the Hunters hadn't found it. The protection spell she cast should be holding fine. But she been getting a strange feeling lately. She turned the bend and saw the house. It was the same as ever.

Without even questioning of where exactly they were going the fairy hovered by her side with an eager expression on his face -he could sense that an adventure was about to befall with this strange dragon creature. He could also sense magic in the air.
Upon seeing the house the fairy turned to Lunasa and raised a slender brow. Were those tears in her fair eyes? Must be really a close friend to be missed so much.
"Curious place, there's magic here, I think. You're honorary friend sure picked a good place to live." He said at last.

Ah, you misunderstand. My friend is deceased. This is where it all started. She looked back at the house. But she saw movement around back Come with me. There seems to be something wrong. She slid around the house, skirting the place where she had entombed her teacher. But that didn't matter right now. She could pay her respects later.

The fairy bowed his head. I'm sorry...I did not know." Then took action pulling out his sword he looked at Tapio and said in a hush voice."Scout out ahead, see if we any unwanted visitors."
Tapio grinned showing his sharp feline teeth and darted off into the woods. Flying until he was close to Lunasa's he whispered. "What do you think it is? Ankle biters, humans, banshees?"

A red fox Kit is startled by all the noise. She wasn't quite used to all these voices in her small corner of the forest. She dashes past the large cat and skitters under the small ruin of a cottage.
((OoC: Erm... random, I know. But I wanted to join, kay? *pout*))

The ginger cat blinked in surprise seeing fox Kit dart suddenly past him. "Where did she come from?" He said and was after her in a flash. He chased her down until she ran under the cottage. He stopped his pursute and peered into the darkness.
"Hey Pixie-Boy! Lunasa! I found someone!"

(Its alright, Pega!) How could you? Lunasa turned as Tapio called. It was a fox kit? What was that doing here? Coming. She walked up to the cottage. Where did the kit go? She stepped into the rubble of the house. Magic still permeated the timbers.

The fairy kept close to her side, keeping watch. He was doubtful that the something wrong that the lady sensed wasn't the kit fox.

The fox kit whimpers and squishes tighter into the nook she's found in the backside of the house. Her mother had told her this place wasn't safe... but she'd never expected all these strange noises and creatures!
"I am not banshee," she says, trembling, then howling piteously, "I am fox!" She growls a bit, unsure of these strangers.

The cat swished his tail in annoyance. "Oh, Gee! You think we can't tell the difference between a puny fox kit and a wailing banshee!" He rolled his green eyes. What are we? Nincompoops? Not!"
"Now Tapio where's your manors?" Said the fairy giving the fox a kind smile.
"Greeting young fox, and do not be afraid, I am Sir Falaroy, a knight who is sworn to protect the weak and Innocent."
He waved a hand at the dragon girl. "And this is Lady Lunasa."

Lunasa nodded. The kit wasn't what she sensed. But its fear was clouding the area. She couldn't sense what ever it was that unsettled her. Its alright. We aren't here to hurt you. What is your name, little one? If she could calm down the fox down, she would be able to find the real problem. She would smile but that tended to scare the unprepared. But her eyes softened.
