So, with Geocities closing at the end of the month (?), my site will be closed. I have some sort of vague plan to get my own domain... at some point... but I know that my two jobs, volunteer work, grad school, and "real life" relationships are definitely higher priority for me at this time. All my files will be backed up on disk, but that's it for now. Essentially, all my critters will be "unpaged." If this at all bothers anyone from whom I've adopted, I really encourage you to re-adopt your creation to someone who has time to page, appreciate, and share the critter. I would rather someone who has the time to enjoy adoptables be the owner. Honestly, if anyone sees anyone on my site that they would like to take over the care and feeding of, I am only too happy to oblige, with the permission of any creator that is still floating around. I have been out of the adopting game for over two years. I honestly don't have the same level of interest in it anymore, and like I said, my life is just full of other stuff. www.geocities.com/empressdawby/cp/adopted.htmlHere's the link. Everything is pretty simple and straightforward in organization. You don't have to wander through a bunch of pages to find something.

Getting the space isn't as much the problem as managing, creating, and setting up the space.

If you are really sure you want to do this, I don't mind giving temporary/permanent homes to those creatures I already have adopted some of. I'm trying to avoid starting on new creatures though ^__^ Although it probably shouldn't be too hard to do a transfer over to Sera's offer. You've already got the pages written, so no creating, and if you are not an active adopter, then no managing. You just need to do the space set up Especially as you got the backup...I assume that includes the html pages or just the images?

Both, both. Well, I shall think about how much time it will take to re-setup on another site, but in the meantime, I'm just going to go with the backup disk.

Your C'bana should be alright, especially considering Pega can't really give them much attention till July of next year. And....Do you have anything from me? I forget and can't seem to find them there...I'm guessing not but I can't remember...If you do, don't worry about it.

Well, I thought I had until the end of the month, but I just went to download everything I had onto disk and am being told that Geocities is already closed. Anyone know when that deadline was? Apparently I missed it.

It was Monday, the 26th. I barely got what I wanted off of it, and even so I figured I forgot some things

RIP Geocities. For what it's worth, it was part of my very beginnings on the net, back when you would sign up for certain communities and got a generic number, only later you could pick your site name.
Ah, Lady Hippoo one of the first adoption agencies ^___^
Dawbs, hope you didn't just lose everything!

Ooh, I'm so sorry to hear that Dawby; I wish I had realized that you didn't have them saved before, I could have tried to save a few anyway. *hugs* At least the Paint and Crystal Unicorns shouldn't be too difficult to get back, yes?
