Free FTP Programs?

Might as well reuse this post. So I got myself a new machine since the other one was so unstable. It was getting a little old anyway ^.^ So now I've got a brand new shiny Windows 7 machine. I'm not sure if my ancient WS_FTP client would run on it (haven't tried yet) but was wondering what you guys were using and what you might recommend. I don't do anything special, just transfer files from one place to the other, don't need any fancy task scheduling or anything like that, just a client for dummies ~.^

Ok, got all my data from my old machine transferred including the FTP installer, seems like it works fine, though I'm still curious what other people use ^^

Well my computer died some time back and I lost my copy of photoshop. Seeing as I wasn't really supposed to have a "free" copy of it, I guess I can't complain to loudly *g*

However, I do need some sort of graphics program. Anyone know of any good free ones? Some of the things I tend to use it for:
- beveling to make buttons
- crop/resize/etc
- layering
- tinting or otherwise changing the colours of an image
- making a scanned image transparent

Overall, I only touched the surface of what Photoshop was capable of so I'm hoping there are other graphics programs that can handle the things I actually use it for ^.^ I'll miss those lovely filters but now that I'm not doing computer drawn adoptions (or any adoptions at all at this time) I can live without that kind of stuff.

I've only slightly poked at it, but GIMP is free and supposedly does pretty much everything Photoshop does. www.gimp.org/windows/

Oooh, I've heard that name before, never tried it. Sounds like I'll give that one a go.

Well, I got it to do everything except put the bevel on the desired edges of an image, totally a minor thing. Maybe if I bothered to download the documentation (which is larger than the application itself LOL ) I might find out how to do it. Otherwise, will take a bit of getting used to but looks pretty feature filled!

Awesome! I didn't think it was quite as powerful as Photoshop, but maybe I just haven't played around with it enough.

It's not, but then I wasn't exactly using the full power of photoshop anyway. There's a big difference between making images for my webpage and doing graphic art *g*

If you still need this, for FTP, I use Filezilla: filezilla-project.org/

You want the client, not the server.
