I took the week off for Christmas (FROM BOTH JOBS, BOOYAAAAAH) and am doing my holiday baking today. OMG. They aren't too creative but yanno, sometimes you gotta stick with old favorites. I've made: - peanut butter cookies w/ chocolate stars
- cream cheese chocolate chip cookies
- cream cheese M&M cookies
- cake batter cookies
- ordinary chocolate chip cookies w/ dark chocolate chips (for meeeeeeeeee)
*boggled* Now I'm eating a very late lunch of real food (well, real enough) before I tackle my Grandmother's sugar cookie recipe. I've never made her cookies before, and she had used this recipe forEEEEVER (like, when my dad was a child.) But I love making and decorating cut-outs, so it should be fun, no matter what (unless I screw up, that won't be fun, that'll suck.) Anyone else doing any baking this year?

About a week ago made sugar cookies, the weekend that just passed makde gingerbread, will be making the shortbread today (my mother made the dough since I was at work but since it needs to chill before making the cookies themselves, I'll do that part this evening) But that's all the cookies we'll be making So you definitely beat us with variety! Though maybe we could make some chocolate chip cookies too, mmmmm, nummy.

Heh! Funny you should ask.. I spent almost twelve hours yesterday baking, as a matter of fact! I haven't made cookies to take to work in almost a year now, so I went a little overboard this time (eleven batches total, four different kinds). I would have been able to get done faster if I'd been using my own equipment, but alas; I got stuck with a stand mixer that was only about half as big as mine. >.> Fortunately, only five of the batches needed it. My cookies of choice, at least this time around: - My family calls them homemade PayDay bars. Everyone else calls them crack cookies! Either way, they're hugely popular with just about everyone (except, sadly, the peanut-allergy crowd). As an added bonus, they're simple (six ingredients, four steps), quick (ready to eat in twenty minutes), and easy (no-bake).
- Mint chocolate fudge! A close second in popularity, based on a completely unofficial polling at work (excluding the dairy-intolerant folks, in this case). Much like crack cookies, this recipe is simple (five ingredients, four steps), relatively quick (twenty minutes of work, ready to eat in about an hour), and easy (no-bake).
- Pumpkin spice cookies with a sugar spice glaze. Generally liked by even those who aren't fond of pumpkin, these are unfortunately very slow to make. Cooking time for each sheet is 20 minutes, and because they are large cookies you can only fit about six on an average baking sheet. The major advantage to this recipe, however (besides the deliciousness), is that it can be altered to accommodate just about any special diet. One of my coworkers can't eat wheat, eggs, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, beef, or seafood (along with a minor allergy to soy), but she can eat these cookies!
- An experimental variety of gingersnaps. I'd not tried this recipe before, but I wanted another option for the aforementioned coworker, and this one didn't need much changing. They turned out crunchier than I had anticipated, but still tasty. If I make them again, I'll probably try making larger cookies to see if I can get a softer texture. These were fairly run-of-the-mill as far as bake times and whatnot go.
A lot of work for one day, and they'll be gone after tomorrow. lol So it goes!

Sounds like you two were making all kinds of deliciousness too! YUM! I baked all day but now I want more cookies XD
I need to frost and decorate my sugar cookies, but I think I will do that tomorrow. Gotta make some time for laundry and coloring Crystal Unicorns!
