Been watching the movie and I FREAKING LOVE IT! On the cover it says its based on a book or something (MUST FIND BOOK I need something new to read ran out of Dragon Riders of Pern books, heh I read them all already)
But yea kinda makes me think towards Harry Potter + LOTR + Merlin = Earthsea
Nice fantasy movie about wizards and stuff. The dude who floats scares the crap outa me!

It's a series/world by Ursula K. Le Guin. I read one awhile ago but didn't get around to reading the rest. Here's a page that talks a bit about the different books: members.aol.com/misuly/leguin.htm

Eathsea is a cool series. I've read the books and seen part of the movie on tv. The two newer books, The Other Wind and Tales from Earthsea are good. I didn't like The Farthest Shore, though. In order, the books are: A Wizard of Earthsea, The Tombs of Atuan, The Farthest Shore, Tehanu, Tales from Earthsea, and The Other Wind.

*nods* Ursula Guin. I read two of the Earthseas; library didn't have the first one for some reason... or was it the third they didn't have? Good stories, but I was very young when I read them and didn't like it quite as much as I think I'd enjoy them now.

Yup, though my Dad's more into the series than I am. I wasn't too into the movie, but then again I tend to prefer the book versions anyway.

Yes...I loved the books and I...well, I didn't like the miniseries. Okay, I hated the miniseries. The books are completely different.
The miniseries was Harry Potter + LOTR + Merlin, but the books weren't. The books were completely original and new and fresh...the miniseries just seemed like it was trying to snag the fantasy audience.
I'm sorry, I was really upset with the way it turned out.
