Only 90 minutes? *snicks claws out* Grr. Yes, sometimes they can do a pretty good job, (particuarly with picking the charecters, aka, Snape was perfect... XD) But sometimes... Blekh. Yeah, Eldest leaves you hanging, and parts of it are rather disturbing. *blinks slowly*

I love books. So I find it difficult to completely ignore a book-movie's roots... However, I am capable of saying "Well, they butchered the book but it was still a great movie." Because I understand they they are two entirely different forms of media. ^_^
I do hope they don't condense or 'modernize' the movie too much. Those were my main issues with the Harry Potter movies- condensing sensibly is different than CRAMMING in stuff, and keeping true to the magical foreigness of the book world is also very important. Don't try to 'americanize' the book, like one director tried to do with one of the HP movies. (forget which XP) Yeah. Stuff like that.
The -looks- of a character's actor doesn't matter nearly as much as how well their personalities fit. Like, Snape has both. But so much can be done with cosmetics and dye that if somebody is PERFECT for a role, their appearance shouldn't really matter.
Besides, I always come up with the wierdest illogical conclusions about what characters should look like, especially in old classic books where character description isn't as common... Like, in To Kill a Mockingbird, my friend Abbie and I both INDEPENDENTLY came up with the idea that Dill should be albino-looking. I have no clue where we got this from because its not true at all, and its even weirder that we each got the same idea at the same time on our own... Yeah.
Predictions about the third book, anyone? Chris has created a veritable cornucopia of loose ends to tie up for just one more novel, but here are my basic thoughts: Arya bonds with the green dragon, and green dragon (once its of age and the world is set right again, of course) hooks up with Saphira to repopulate the dragon race, Arya hooking up with Eragon in the process. ^_^
The idea of Shruikan and Saphira kind of appeals to me too, seeing as how I ADORE Shruikan and he isn't evil, just sworn in the Old Language to serve an evil master through little fault of his own. If Galbatorix were to be killed, then Shruikan -might- become kind of emo or something. But dragons don't really think of things the same way as humans, so I dunno. He might become a perfectly suitable little dragon awesomeness guy. XD

I thought that about Dill as well! I was absolutely convinced... my teacher had to argue with me that it doesn't actually say it in the book. Weird! I think the Inheritance trilogy has a disturbing resemblance to Star Wars. As an interesting thing, (even if you are a fan, which I basically am), check out Anti-Shurtugal www.anti-shurtugal.com/ because it proves some interesting points. Especially the Plagarisms "Star Wars" article. I just found it interesting. I still like the books however: mainly because I adore dragons. But I am slightly less in "awe" of Mr. Paolini now. xD

LOTS of plot holes Not anywhere near as bad as I was expecting tho, despite all obvious flaws. Saphira on the other hand was fabulous *_* I LOVED HER!!! I need to get screencaps of her wings, I think those were scales! It was AWESOME!

lol, some of the dialogue, though... That pickup line was GREAT. "You look... fit for battle." Smooth. And! (excuse cruddy cellphone camera quality) Who are those cool kids?!

I saw the first showing on Thursday at 7... and I must say it was not nearly as good as I was expecting. They only loosely (in my opinion) followed the book. The ending really disappointed me as far as not following the book. The acting, at parts, was mediocre and very cheesy. The guy who played Murtagh was very cool: he interpreted him differently than I would have. And Durza was very different from my interpretation of him from the book - he didn't seem as slick. However... SAPHIRA! It was worth it for her alone! She was amazing. Really, really cool. Her voice didn't fit her, I thought... mind you, I don't know if any human voice could really do a dragon justice.
All in all, it wasn't bad. It wasn't amazing, but it was worth seeing (for SAPHIRA! lol)

Grrr, I'm not going to be able to see it for another week or so... I'm off to Hawaii for my uncle's wedding and I don't think we'll have time till we get back.
