Possible spoilers below...
I saw it, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. They stuck to the book really well, but it had a lot of holes. Like, wasn't Arya unconcious through out they're journey? And...they left out Jeod. Roran just left, it didn't mention Katrina at all, and that's a big part of the next story. Oh, and Eragon didn't bless Elva. That's a rather important part that was left out.
What bothered me the most, though, was the races. I didn't see any dwarfs at all, and Arya's ears weren't tapered, she looked just as human as Eragon.
Other than that, I'd say it was nice. It was really fast, never short on the drama. But it was rather short. I was pleased and disappointed at the same time.
But, although I did like Saphira's wings, that wasn't how they were described. I pictured the wings more dragonish, with the membrane, not scales. I do remember reading how the light shown through Thorn's wings...

Yes, Arya was unconcious throughout that entire journey!
I don't think they can make Eldest into a movie - they left out a few important bits. I don't know!
And I think you're right about the wings Rhaye.

Hey, Saturnalia... you look... fit for battle.

Wow...I don't even know what to say about the Eragon game...BOOOOOOOOOO!
It does a very poor job explaining what's going on. Had I not read the book, I'd be completely lost. I've been playing for an hour, that's it, and I already came up with the top things that bother me:
In the very beginning, Eragon is an amazing swordsmen. You start off playing as Eragon, and fight a battle in Carvahall that didn't really happen in the book, or the movie for that matter. During that battle Eragon and Brom were strongly outnumbered. With no help from Saphira, Eragon and Brom kill at least 100 soldiers. I killed more men playing as a poor farm boy than Brom did, who was an experienced Dragon Rider...odd?
During another battle that never happened in the book or movie, Eragon discovers his magic, using the ancient word for fire. Right, that happened in the book. But then, Eragon masters his magic skills and continues to fight, effortlessly slaying urgals and soldiers with his magic, and suddenly has decent knowledge of the ancient language.
It's all fighting, which I guess I should have expected. I hoped for something more like the Final Fantasy games, something that told a wonderful story yet was still action packed. This game is lacking in graphics and plot.
I do, however, love riding Saphira. I guess if I didn't compare it to the book, it'd be okay. It's just really annoying me how good Eragon is, and how fast this game is moving. It's bothersome...

***Some spoilers here, for both book and movie***
Just saw the movie today. Dunno, I have mixed reactions to it. I LOVED Saphira! Except I felt her wings were too far back, that looked a bit unnatural. By I liked her adult woman's voice, I thought it was appropriate. And nostrils, was really impressed how real her nose was, I just wanted to pat her.
I thought Durza was well done too, though I pictured him even paler, but the hair was right.
And I thought John Malcovich as Galbatorix was perfect. If there is a creepy, insano actor out there, its him. That voice just makes me shudder.
It was interesting how Durza and Galbatorix had so much screen time, while they barely showed up in the book (Galbatorix not at all) and yet Murtagh was on screen for a whole 5 minutes. Anyone who hadn't read the book wouldn't even have noticed him.
On the other hand, though they took out some big chunks, I found they were appropriate chunks (the book did drag a bit in places). But because they took out those bits, they had to alter the timeline of when things happen, like Brom's death, or have a one character take on the responsabilities of another. On the whole it was well done, though it was weird when they'd go offtrack, and then suddenly get back on it again.
But I have to agree that the ending doesn't seem to line up with where the story will have to pick up from. Though they could always say Murtagh goes missing later. *shrugs*
And they didn't kill a Ra'zac in the book did they? What if both are required later on?

Well at least the movie (though I've haven't seen it yet) itself got me into getting the book itself from the library.
I hadn't gotten the chance to read the book yet since I have to wait till my mum finishes it. Yeah she likes dragons too.

Welp saw the moive, I was dissapointed. But I was also prepared to be dissapointed so yea wasn't so bad. Um you might like the movie if you haven't read the book. Uhh it seemed kinda rushed though. And they kinda grabbed parts from the book smashed them all together and TADAAAA a movie. But Saphira turned out wonderfuly, though I thought of her more towards sterotypical dragon. But meh she still turned out great.
All in all, don't go and expect to see a KICK BUTT movie.

Actually, I thought the opposite. If you hadn't read the book, some things that were important that they mentioned wouldn't have seemed important because you were missing half the background information.
One thing my friends and I agreed on, this wasn't really a kids movie. The Ra'zac were kind of scary. It was more like Lord of the Rings than it was Harry Potter.
One thing that disappointed me was how little imagery we get of the Varden and their mountain. I really wanted to see the giant saphire and have Saphira come bursting through. Instead we get Durza riding the black bat thing. It was ok, and wasn't a significant deviation, but kinda bugged me anyway, heh.
Oh, and I don't remember who mentioned that there were no dwarves...they were there! You didn't notice the one guy with the beard and the scottish accent? He was on screen for about a whole 30 seconds but the accent gave him away. Why do all dwarves in all movies have a scottish accent anyway?

Cause it makes them sound cool and shmexy! Now if only they wore kilts...
I'll wait till I get a chance to read the book before seeing the moive. I did the same thing with Howl's Moiving Castle.

I just might see the movie this coming Saturday.
