Accidents happen, Syneh replied. Sometimes even to the best of us. If I'm injured, it'll be because I decided to join you. She followed along in silence after that, enjoying the scenery.

Back in the clearing, Nameless snorts in frustration, then sighs.
I knew it. Bismark, you know this isn't your fault...?
She trails off, knowing her words are useless. Fine. You can lead the way to the gates for these Kaigaihen heroes. I'll go with you. But we won't follow inside.

Harily listened to the tale that the Kaigaihen told. Sorrow filled his m8ind when he heard the hooror that was inflicted upon them all. No words formed as he watched the exchange between his four new companions. When the Kaigaihen left, all he could do was watch. He turned to the nameless mare and the one he had learned was Bismark when they started to leave. I will go with you all. I can't just stand by while such horror goes on.

Relief fell off Bismark in almost palatable waves; anything to help reduce the awful burden of guilt which nigh overwhelmed him. Thank you, he said quietly to the mare. He wouldn't go against her wishes, not unless it put her in danger, nor would he air his own desires unless specifically asked. . . and perhaps not even then.
Solearth continued to lead on, the silence suiting him as well as the others. Alone, he and Broken would mount discussions and arguments, but with company they tried for a unified front. << Usually. He gave a small, mental sigh, heart aching slightly. The pain of the pair they left behind, the agony of those they went to find: how could any of them bear it?

Nameless sighs. Addressing Harily and Bismark, she jerks her head in the direction the Kaigaihen left in. Alright, heroes, she says sardonically. Let's go.

Bismark glanced cooly at Harily as though once again sizing him up, then moved into the lead, heading at an easy, yet swift pace, back the way they had come. It wasn't long until the Kaigaihen were in sight, including the strange new mare with them. A short while after that they were moving together as a group.
Solearth inclined his head to the mare, but made no comment of the new accompaniment. Syneh, please be acquainted with the other group members. He allowed them to introduce themselves to each other.

Harily stepped in line behind the nameless one. He thought abou the story he had been told and was more determined than ever to help. They walked on and spotted the Kaigaihen and the new mare. I am Harily Couel. was all he said. His mind swam with vision of the things that were being done to those like him and he shuddered.

For the next few miles, the sextet traveled in silence. The red mare walked with a grim expression that forbode any conversation. When they had rejoined the Kaigaihen and discovered the new naa, she had given her a once over and then effectively ignored her from then on.
At length the traveling naa came to the broad banks of the river.

Syneh introduced herself to those who cared and likewise ignored those who didn't. Solearth, she said. I'm a little in the dark as to what's happening. Mind filling me in?

Solearth glanced at the river, then to the mare, but Bismark lept in without any vestige of fear, waiting for the mare to enter the water with him. With his body moving with her, she would hardly feel the current.
Solearth hrmed thoughtfully before swiftly filling Syneh in on the details of their 'mission'.
Broken eyed the water distastefully, but she was all for plunging in herself. Immediately the current caught ahold of her, sweeping her downstream swiftly. The mare gamely fought to keep her head above water, cutting diagonally, if slowly, across the great, quick-moving river.

Watching Broken fighting her way across, then turning to eye Bismark using his muscle to keep his footing in the shallows, Nameless wades slowly into the icy river. The current threatens to knock her off her feet, so she stays upriver of Bismark. As the water grows deeper, she stretches out her neck and swims with only her eyes and nostrils above water, like a crocodile. Several times, a particularly strong swath of river shoves her into Bismark, her sharp back hooves tangling with his legs.
Race you, she sends breathlessly.

Harily, not being much of a fan for water, decides that the best way to get across is the fly. He lifts off the ground and notices Broken struggleing in the current. Need a lift? he asks, hoping he can be of assistance.

Syneh watched the others plunge into the river or fly across. Madness, she muttered. They're all crazy. Before jumping in herself, she made sure her cloak was secure. She followed Broken's lead, swimming diagonally.

I've. . . got. . it, Broken replied, submerging again before breaking the surface with a snort. Gads, she hated water. <<;;;
Solearth shook his head, weighing the pros and cons of swimming. Well, if he didn't, the others would feel silly. <<;;; The Kaigaihen stepped calmly into the water, heading acroos rather easily.
Bismark snorted in response, concentrating everything on keeping a steady path across the river; anything to keep her safe. The pair still made it to the other side before the three swimming, though Solearth came out soon after them.
Bismark continued to stand in the shallows for awhile, stepping out to reveal the red-stained feather of his hind legs.
You're bleeding,Solearth pointed out quietly.
If is of no concern, the large stallion replied flatly, shooting his orange gaze at the other in challenge.
Solearth shook his head, moving to the larger stallion calmly. Stand still, he said, then closed his eyes in concentration.
Broken finally made it to the other side, clambering up onto the shore and giving herself a good shake, before just standing there, head down as she worked to regain her strength. She would have her second wind soon.

((btw, sera's already logged in, so i've been posting as here >.>;; ))
Syneh cursed the whole way across the river. This was ridiculous. They should have found a place to ford the river where it was calmer. As she struggled onto the bank, she had to remind herself that she did, in fact, invite herself along. And Solearth had, in fact, warned her that it would be dangerous. She caught her breath and waited for the next move.
