Kilajoanan ignores her and says eagerly, "Better hang on to it. In all the stories, the strange object found in the cave is always important somehow at the climax of the plot!"

Verin smurked slightly as he turned to face them, " He's probly right..." he said looking at the jewel.
Flis looked at it but said nothing.

"Ok," Kado says. They start to travel up the mountain again. All Kado can think about is the jewel.

Kilajoanan takes the lead, his agility and speed on the uneven terrain enhanced by his slim build. The sturdier Garama falls into step beside Kado, just as interested in the gem as he is.
"I think someone hid it there," she says, serious for once.
"I don't want to hear about the ferrets!" shouts Kilajoanan from up ahead.
Garama scowls. She tosses back, "I wasn't talking about ferrets! So there!"
Turning back to Kado, she elaborates, "Someone hid it there on purpose. A valuable jewel hidden in a secret cave behind a locked, hidden door? I hope no one thinks we're thieves. Maybe we ought to put it back. It's not ours."

Flis little and speedy keeps up with Kilajoanan and Verin in between to two goups as he trots happily up the path.
Flis sighs slightly, " I say we keep it for now...I have a feeling it might be more then just a pretty jewel.."

Kilajoanan nods, too, temporarily slowing down to converse more easily with the others. "Don't forget, Garama, that it was awfully dusty in there. Yeah, it was hidden on purpose, but whoever put it there did it a long time ago. It must have been forgotten, or abandoned, or maybe the owner died."
Garama looks unhappy. "You're all wrong, but when we come to trouble because of that rock, just remember that I'll be the one with the ferrets," she says, as usual making no sense whatsoever.
The ice-blue painted crystal colt shrugs as he lightly leaps over a good-size rock. "Yeah, okay. I'll keep that in mind."
Turning away from Garama, he gives Flis'yev a challenging grin. "Race you to that next curve in the path!"

Flis smurks slightly at Kado, "So'k...It mainly bugs because Verin uses it as a sort of pet name.." she says galring at Verin who looks away slighlty inicently.
Flis grins and leaps over the rock with ease, Sure." and then she begings to run a small smile on her face.
Verin smiles slightly, " If you live with me and Flis you wouldn't be...We always go on adventures.." he said troting.

Panting, Kado followed them up the mountain trail. They came around a corner to see a path that lead into the path they were on. "Hey," Kado said, "This looks like it could be the path that we didn't take when we saw that fork in the road."

"I definitely won," Kilajoanan informs Flis'yev smugly, not really seeming interested to see the merge of the other path.
Garama arrives just behind Kado, not seeming out of breath at all. She cocks her head thoughtfully. "How odd. Why do through the trouble of making two paths that go to the same place? It's almost like ...like... well, back home at the island, in the resort, there's a path that diverges from the main road, goes out of sight, and then joins up with the main road again. Dawby's house is pretty much the only thing on the path. She says she likes the privacy, and doesn't want traffic going past her house. Maybe this other path is someone's driveway."

"That might be it," Kado said, "But I was thinking something more along the lines of if you choose a certian path, you get a clue. Like, we chose the left path, and because we chose that one, we got the jewel as a clue. Maybe there is another mysterious item on that path!" he exclaimed.

Flis grinned and ooked down the other path. She coked her head slightly and then troted a little waysdown the path.
Verin glanced at her as he stood in thought...After awhile he smurked slightly and troted after Flis.
