"Just hold it steady for a moment," the Explorer replied as Zefiryn carefully rose to her feet and took stock of her own injuries. She inspected the wing carefully getting her first real look at the strange appendage. They were of a kind as draconic wings, but the membranes were thicker and lucky for Kalina. The cut was rather long, but fortunately not deep, and thus didn't rip fully through. The Eastern gave a small sigh of relief to this; none of them knew enough to sew up an injury such as that, even if they did have the equipment. "It's not too bad, Kalina," Gisele reassured her. "Let me clean it and hopefully we can keep from aggravating it further.
"We didn't even make the corner," Zefiryn observed with wry humour. "Forget it, both of you. I'm sticking to the ground from here on out."
Gisele rolled her eyes at her friend, hoping Kalina didn't take the comment amiss.

The recklessness of youth most likely would have given Kalina all the impetus she needed to try again, but flying was much more fun with company. She would have liked a rematch with Zefiryn, but it appeared she'd have to wait on that.
"Did I do that?" she said, eyeing the scratch along the grey's side. "I'm sorry."
Her nose was still throbbing, and now it was running a bit, too, so she wiped it on her shoulder.

Gisele swiftly cleaned out the cut then eyed it carefully. Yes, it looked clean now. "There you go. Now let's just keep it from being aggravated until you can get a proper bandage on it." With that the Eastern moved to Zefiryn and began working on that cut as well.
Ryn flinched slightly around her eyes at the sure, long strokes, but she still answered the younger creature. "It's alright, I've done worse to myself before. How does your wing feel? Any other bumps or bruises we should know about it?"

"My nose hurts," she responded unhappily, wrinkling the wet, dark end of her muzzle to test the pain and going cross-eyed trying to look at it.
Still trying to keep an eye on her nose, Kalina edged forward, curiousity at what lay around the path guiding her idle, unconscious steps forward.

Zefiryn winced in sympathy to the the pain of banged nose; she'd done that way more often than she cared to count. "I hate it when that happens," the Explorer said as Gisele finished cleaning the cut.
"I hate to leave these unprotected," the Eastern murmured thoughtfully. "We need to find someone with bandages."
"And thumbs," Ryn joked quietly, golden eyes following Kalina's movements curiously.
Not too distant was someone who had the possibility of fulfilling at least one of these criteria. He wasn't directly beyond the corner, however, he was a short distance down the path lounging among a scattering of boulders in the fertile land.

Since birth, Kalina had been prone to wandering off by herself. It wasn't that she planned to "lose" those who might be looking out for her, she just somehow always managed to find herself alone without the faintest idea how she'd ended up so far away from everyone else.
Such was the case now, as she absently drifted closer to the bare rock and path leading behind it. Once she reached the face of the rock, it was almost automatic for her to wonder what was further up the narrow little path, and then for her to disappear entirely behind the stark granite.

"Whoops," Zefiryn remarked in amusement as Gisele continued her inspection. "We lost the kiddo."
The Eastern blinked and looked up. "Well, by all means, let's follow."
Vibrant green eyes watched the newcomer indulgently. Her recognized her as of a type of the those creatures that were now flooding Hawkings Crest. His eyes narrowed darkly, but it was more frustration then true anger. He hated having his abodes, even temporary ones, upset when he had plans to be there. But Sera was definitely distracted in adjusting the lands for the gryvern and barely had time even for her dear and close friend. Black ears flattened on the wolf form and it took a moment for him to regain himself and slip back into the cool, even-tempered mask.
He was large and short-haired, the black of his pelt shot through with a swathe of twisting pure white. Brilliant, vibrant green eyes stared out from his dual-coloured face, and his long, fluffy tail lay across his hind legs, utterly still. He had an aura of intensity that would swiftly draw and hold the eye. The Miberu was very aware of himself and his effect on others and he would wait until the hybrid noticed him, became aware of his presence, before the Miberu rose slowly and easily, stretching slightly in more subtly posing before moving gracefully from the rocks to pause and stare at her from a short distance aways. The deep green eyes fixed on Kalina and he stared at her without a word.

There was a smooth stone on the path, dark red with little veins of grey all shot through it. Kalina nosed it with interest, then moved on to inspect a weed shoot that had fought its way through the loose rock and hard-packed dirt and clay on the path and was bravely waving in the the breeze. It had a tiny white flower head, and when the little mix stopped to sniff it, she accidentally sucked it up into her nose, forcing a sneeze. Nose twitching, she looked up as her head cleared from the sneeze and did the first thing anyone would do to suddenly see something large and unfamiliar in front of you where there previously was nothing. Her scream rang out, full throated and long.

Gisele and Zefiryn reacted instinctively, bolting down the path and around the corner to take up posts on either side of the hybrid. Ears flat and teeth showing, they showed the danger of enraged adult gryvern.
The Miberu blinked at this wonderous display, surprised by the scream and even more so by the creatures backup. Egads, the red one was at least as big as he, and likely a little larger. Of course, as aware of himself as he was, he failed to hold into account the element of surprise on a recently injured teenager.
Well, he said flatly, sarcasm heavy. That was pleasant.
"Who are you?" Zefiryn demanded. "What did you do to Kalina?"
I to her? he retorted darkly. I have done nothing to anyone. She has the nerve to approach and scream at me.
Zefiryn's golden eyes narrowed and she glanced down at the hybrid curiously.

Kalina's long, elegant ears were turned out in dismay. "He - he was, he was big! A- and, and black! And he was, he was looking at me and - " she sputtered, heart still racing. "He was just suddenly there and... and... and what is he?!"

None of the gryvern seemed to trust the large creature and Zefiryn couldn't help but agree with Kalina, in her unease and her curiousity.
The wolf-like being stared hard at Kalina, displeasure evident. He was oddly stoic now, though the large, triangular ears were back now.
Gisele blinked and, as was her wont, stepped in as the mediator. "Well, excuse our. . . surprise. Who, and if we may inquire, wot are you?" He was certainly outside of her experience and a glance at her friend proved Ryn hadn't the foggiest either.
I am Mishuen, he replied a bit haughtily. As for wot, I am a Miberu. There was a slight twist to the words and Zefiryn's eyes narrowed at the arrogant sarcasm she caught in his words.
Should I . . . inquire, the same sort of twist made this sarcasm as well. The same of you?
Gisele's whiskers twitched slightly, "We are, for the most part Gryvern, lately of Hawkings Crest."
I know, came the short response, and the Eastern could hear the vague rumblings of anger in those two words. Nevertheless, she continued quietly, "I am Gisele. We are met, Mishuen."
Zefiryn glared for a long moment before saying quietly, "Zefiryn."

"Kalina." Her voice was so soft as to be barely audible. "Hi."
Not the most eloquent of intruductions, and her eyes darted from her claws, to the scraggly grass growing alongside the path, to the wall of even stone to their right, to the sky; anywhere but at the haughty creature who called himself Mishuen. And for goodness sake, what was a Miberu?
She risked a quick peek from under her eyelashes at the looming creature. Ack!! He was looking right at her!

The bright green eyes stared pointedly at the group, specifically Kalina because she was easy to fluster, and said nothing. Absolutely silent.
Zefiryn shifted uneasily at their new companion, staring at him staring at them until she finally burst, "Well, wot do you want?!"
Green gaze locked with golden and the gryvern's ears flattened suddenly. I fail to see how that is any business of yours, Mishuen answered at long last. I should ask this of you; you're the ones who came to interrupt me.

No! Ack! He was mad at them.
"No, no!" The words spilled out of Kalina, tumbling over each other and shattering on impact so as to be largely incomprehensible. "..and not really detectives, but looking for her brother, really true, and harder paths more fun, but can't fly, and ..and.. ..and.."
Kalina burst into tears.

The Miberu blinked, nearly jumping in surprise at her reaction. He retreated a step without realizing it before asking sharply of her companions, Well?!
"Well wot?" Ryn snapped. "You're the one who made her cry!"
I did nothing of the sort! Mishuen retorted tightly. Green eyes flicked back to the hybrid as he carefully rebuilt his aplomb. The crying didn't bother him so much as the sudden burst into tears. He didn't understand why she was crying at all.
"It's alright, Kalina," Gisele comforted her softly. "I'm sure it's just his personality."
Just my personality! the Miberu echoed aghast.
"Don't take it personally, dear," she said quietly, ignoring his reaction.
