PonyIsland still has an adoptable community, although it's nowhere near as busy as it was a few years ago. A lot of virtual pet sites have small adoptable communities on the forum but I haven't found any that are hugely busy. I miss the days of the PonyIsland adoptable community when you couldn't keep a thread on the main page for more than five minutes D:
I know there's a lot of adoptable stuff on DeviantArt too but don't know that much about it.
I am still running Samanayrs but know they're not for everyone, and I haven't been as active as I'd like thanks to Baby #2 and his lack of sleep XD;

Right now there's breedings and customs Even if you don't have Samanayrs or a Song of your own, you can apply for a breeding using an open Song! Sliver just rolled his eyes when the colt responded with a 'peep.' At his age he should at least be able to understand simple phrases, and be able to reply with a 'yes' or a 'no.' Apparently his parents, whoever they'd been and wherever they were, had not bothered to teach him to speak properly. How peculiar.
There was something about this colt that continued to remain on the tip of his mind, just beyond his comprehension. For some reason he found himself thinking of that Mystery foal, the speechless abomination he had encountered in days past. Something about the way the foal smelled, maybe, or moved..
Could it be..? He had not encounted the Misery for quite some time, could she have..?
The foal's stalk-and-pounce of the bug distracted him from his train of thought, and Sliver found himself supressing a smile at the foal's antics.

As Sliver glanced at the foal again, he noticed it was walking in a rather peculiar manner, as if dizzy or sick.
"What's the matteyr with you?" he asked the foal, feeling rather annoyed, "Ayre you not feeling well?"
Wouldn't that just be his luck. Not only was the foal apparently intent on following him absolutely everywhere, but there was a chance it was ill, too. The way this day was going, it would drop over dead in the next moment, and Sliver would take the blame.

What a way for his day to go in. Sliver had a feeling that he wouldn't be getting the rest and relaxation that he had so craved. Even worse, he had to take the little one of the Song of the Rainbow Hotsprings, which was always full of young, lively, lucious, tempting Samanayrs..
Sliver tried awkwardly to lean away from the foal while they walked, attempting to divert his attention away from the thought of tasty Samanayrs. He could do this. He had not had any problems the last time he was there, and he would not have any problems this time, either.
He hoped.

Sliver promptly tugged his tail out of the foal's grasp and glared at it. "If I am going to help you, the least you could do is not touch me!"
He raised a hoof as if to strike at the foal, but then noticed the wound on his nose, and the other wounds that he had not noticed before. It looked as though the foal had seen enough strikings in his life already, despite his young age. The Lamanayr sighed and lowered his hoof instead, then turned and started to walk in the direction of the Song of the Rainbow Hotsprings, assuming that the foal would follow.

The foal continued to show no signs of moving, and continued to stare at him with those pleading eyes. Sliver sighed again.
"Peyrhaps youyr payrents ayre no moyre," he said to himself, thinking out loud. "Theyre have been moyre of the Oquiesase ayround lately." Sliver looked down at the foal, considering, and then sighed yet another time. "I suppose I should take you to the Song of the y'Rainbow. Someone should be able to help you there."
The Lamanayr nudged the foal gently with a hoof, and caught another waft of the foal's scent. It was so familiar, he was sure he'd smelled something like it before! If only he could remember what.. oh well, it would come to him eventually.

(WB! Sorry, forgot to reply >_>;; )
With a grimace, Sliver carefully shook his foot free of the little foal. He looked down at the foal in exasperation, taking another step back.
"Wheyre ayre youyr payrents?" he asked the foal, beginning to feel frustrated, "Why can't you botheyr them for a while?"

Sliver almost chuckled when the little one flicked his own wing, copying his gesture. He managed to resist, however, and instead looked at the foal sternly, tapping a hoof impatiently. Was it going to get up now and finally leave him alone?

Sliver had hoped that the foal would run away, and stamped a hoof in exasperation when it sank to the ground instead. He sighed.
"Silly foal, why do you not y'run?" he asked quietly, "I only want to be left in peace."
Supposing that he should make some kind of non-threatening noise so that the foal would actually get up and leave, Sliver choked out an encouraging trill and gestured away from himself with a wing. "Go on, get up and go."

Sliver felt the fur along the back of his neck and spine stand up when the foal rubbed his muzzle and shivered, quickly stepping back from the little foal.
"I do not like to be touched," he growled, baring his teeth at the infant.
The touch had enabled him to get a good whiff of the foal, however, and it had a scent that was almost familiar to him. What could it be?

It sounded as though the colt was agreeing with him, but once Sliver's command had been acknowledged, it did not move. Instead the little one just stood there, with its silly little wings outstretched. Sliver hadn't noticed those at first.
The Lamanayr leaned down so that he was level with the colt, eyes narrowed. "Go. Away," he repeated, voice low and focused.

(sorry, had actual work to do - at work XD Gasp!)
Sliver waited for a couple seconds, and when the foal did not pass on by, he took another look. Hmm, nothing there this time. Though that peep had sounded very close by..
By shifting his position slightly, Sliver realized that the foal had been there the whole time, nearly hidden behind the tatters of his wings and the thick, regrown hair of his tail. The Lamanayr frowned at the foal, moving so that he was facing it and so that the foal could not hide behind his tail.
"Go away," Sliver demanded, flicking a wing as he spoke.
