"I think I understand enough," Mozer replied with a wry and still rather uncomfortable smile, but any other response was delayed by an ear flick towards their oncoming 'attacker'. Without a thought, the gryvern had whirled, placing himself between the oncoming faun and owl and the dionaea. The pair easily dwarfed the faun, but a tension entered the brindle form that seemed to lend an aura of dangerousness. Small or not, he regarded the rush towards them as potentially threatening and there was no doubt he would strike out if he deemed it necessary.
"May we be of assistance?" Mozer called back carefully, eyeing the owl before blue eyes shifted back to the faun.

His tone changed again... She didn't really know what this one meant, oh well, it must not be a very common one or was possibly created by an accent of some sort? Whatever the case she just ignored it without further thought. She understood what he said pretty well though. and gave him a large smile, pausing momentarily when he seemed to jump to her... Defense?
Now that was strange to her, The creature seemed to be panicking more than threatening but maybe Mozer knew what she did not? That must be it, she concluded and slid one of her 'arms' behind her back slightly so that she could swing it with more force if she had to ward something off... Also all of her flowers pulled themselves closed, and pulled in closer to her body. "Are they... Bad?" she asked hesitantly, bad was used to describe so many things that she could only hope it was the right one for this circumstance.
But she was still mystified (although pleased, in a manner of speaking) to his reaction to apparently defend her, she was much more durable than any mammal she had met even if she was not the best fighter, and most creatures she knew huddled behind her in the case of trouble for this reason... Or so she beleived. So what made him feel that her existence was as neccesary as his own? It just didn't make sense to her. Her slightly confused feelings were pretty evident as she watched the events unfold, but the attention wasn't really on her anymore so it was unlikely to be noticed.

The faun stop abruptly about six feet away, and his heart leaped right into his mouth. Okay Pallo stay calm.. he thought wide eyes looking up, up (and way up) at the huge beasts before him.
“Yes!” He squeaked then clearing his thought trying his best not to look terrified. “I I’m being chased by”-he shifted from one hoof to another feeling rather ridiculous-” ..ah..ah...by an owl!”
Behind him Druffle Quill dropped to the ground too tired to fly. Panting he transfixed his yellow eyes on the faun waiting for the two creatures to pounce on him at any moment.

Mozer's attention was currently on the faun and so he missed Ci Hua's confusion. "I don't know yet," Mozer answered somewot under his breath to the dionaea's question. "But I'm willing to hang around and find out." And deal with the problem if they -were- bad. But he didn't think to mention that out loud.
He tilted his head slightly at the faun who was staring at them. "Well, earlier the pair of you were traveling together and, now, he appears to have stopped." His tone was wry if vaguely amused.

'I don't know' was something she understood pretty well, and nodded so these things were unpredictable? Maybe they looked alot like things that were sometimes bad. Whatever the case was she wasn't sure of the exchange between mozer and the human-creature. When he had said 'yes' so clearly she at first thought he was answering the question to whether the pair was bad... But then realized it was addressing Mozer.
She wasn't sure what the other thing he said afterwards was though, and decided to remain quiet until Mozer had figured out whatever it was he was trying to find out... Her speaking would most likely just complicate things... Her eyes drifted to the 'attacker' though and, um... Why was it so tired already? If it was indeed a hunter then how come it chose a prey it could not catch even over a short distance...

"Oh! Umm...." Pallo murrmered face flushing red. Wondering if these two creatures had over heard them as well.
The faun made a quick glance back.
"Don't just stand there!" The bird cried at the top of his lungs. "Run before it kills you!"
"Uh...ignore him." Pallo said rapidly as he returned his attention back to the two. Hopeing that they wouldn't take any offence against him or the owl.

Mozer's ears flicked slightly at the bird's retort and his head tilted slightly as he glanced back at the owl before regarding the faun again. "Not that I," he glanced over his shoulder at the dionaea before amending his statement. "We couldn't kill you, but I'm hoping to avoid that if at all possible. Is there a reason you suddenly decided to rush us?"
The gryvern wondered briefly if Ci Hua was picking up more from the pair than he was. He did't think she had any abilities like that, but obivously he wasn't certain. Didn't even have way of being certain, really. Ah, well. He would have tried to ask, but he wasn't certain if he knew how to word it so she'd understand wot he meant and if he'd understand her answer.

'don't just stand there' she understood that! But since she wasn't currently doing something, and also had no idea what they would have wanted done she glanced around uncertainly but took no other actions.
Kill....... She understood that word too, but why would they want to kill them? Mozer did not seem angry or that threatened and she was not very worried either. It must mean something else when nestled with all those other words, or... Something. Some day she wondered if she would be able to figure out all these complicated words that they used. "Hello." was her only addition to the small conversation, a word she was very used to.

"Well mostly to get away from Druffle Quill, the owl I mean." The faun answered him still feeling like a first class heel.
"But I am sorry if I offended you two..." He apologized and then in a more lighter tone he added. "But where are my good manners? I am Pallo Balleny, the bard." He bowed in greeting before them.
"And that's Druffle Quill..." He wave a hand over to the owl. "A familiar."

"Mozer," the gryvern replied, filing away the strange names and responses for future perusal. This would certainly be a fun story to tell later. Or something. "A familiar wot?" And, he added silently, if it's so familiar, why were you surprised by its attack? The two were a bit baffling.
He glanced back at Ci Hua, unable to stop a small smile at her tiny addition. For all of her strangeness, she was oddly endearing. "This is Ci Hua," he made the introduction politely, before realizing it might be rude? No. . . Ah, well, he wasn't going to worry about it. He eyed her for a moment, but the dionaea didn't seem upset, in fact she seemed in the same amount of calm as he'd seen her in throughout their entire conversation. He wondered, briefly, if she ever got upset.

Her gaze kept switching between the two as each spoke, watching their expressions and everything so that she could hopefully tell what they were talking about atleast a little bit... But she didn't know what Mozers expressions really meant, his face was not at all like a humans. Although she could tell when he was annoyed.
When he introduced her, she bowed to them slightly. She was almost always introduced to people which is why it took her a few moments to realize what her name was when asked the first time. As for getting upset... Well, the only thing that conjured up what could be described as that is when she was forced to defend herself or others.
'Pallo belleny, the bard' Was all of that his name? She hoped not, it was so... Long, maybe the other bits was just him continuing to talk after introducing himself... Either way she decided not to mention that it was a pleasure to meet him, Because she didn't want to risk getting his name wrong.
'Druffle Quill.' That was a more normal name, two parts and neither one was too long. Her name was two parts, did that mean people should call her Ci? No... That sounded wrong, wait wasn't Quill something that they occasional made those black markings on paper with? What a strange name... And she assumed it was a name because the 'familiar' did not look like he'd appreciate being dipped in black stuff and smeared across paper.
"You are... Bleeding." she said sort of out of the blue as she watched the bard... She didn't actually see blood but she could smell it, so she guessed it was just some scratches but shouldn't something be done about it? She instinctively had re-opened her flowers and almost moved forward to look for the source of the blood but stopped herself, There was a reason Mozer distrusted them and she wasn't sure whether he was certain they were trustworthy yet.

"I...am?" The faun looked at Ci Hua in surprise and instintivly ran his hand through his brown hair. He winced but put on a reasuring smile. "Oh it's nothing..." He said eyes wandering to the strange flowers on her.
"Ahh...are those...those flowers really growing on you Miss?"

Mozer's unease about the pair was a bit unusual; he generally had no qualms walking up to anyone and just starting a conversation. Usually. He wasn't entirely certain why he was so wary of this pair when he could probably rip them apart without even really trying. He might 'just' be a Scholar, but he regularly hunted his own food.
As the faun hadn't seemed upset about bleeding thusfar, the gryvern had seen no need to bring it up. As was, the dionaea seemed more comfortable speaking with the tiny creature, so Mozer was content to let her do the talking for now. He was slowly relaxing again.

She nodded to the faun... Well, she thought that was the right response, he had been asking about her flowers and while she wasn't sure what 'growing on' meant she knew what on, and you meant so figured he was asking if they were part of her... "yes, They are... Daffodils." she says then seems to fidget momentarily, She wants to go and uh... Clean the wound, or rather doesn't want the creature to waste the blood even if it was just a small amount, they always just washed it away or something... Didn't it take alot of energy to produce?
She stopped rather quickly though and shuffled a little bit closer to Mozer, She could talk to them, so long as it remained this simple... However it was unlikely they'd learn anything about the bard or owl if she was the only one talking because her repetoire was limited primarily to answers and statements.

Pallo looked at Ci Hua in amazed bewilderment (as he often did when meeting other creatures). It was not that he thought it was freaky that plants growing from her but rather fascinating. They'll never believe this back at home!
"And they're quite lovely, Ci Hua." He complimented no longer feeling embarrassed or afraid.
Meanwhile Druffle Quill the familiar owl sulked in the grass. He had realized that he, a former magician's familiar, yet again made another mistake. It was apparent now that the two "foul creatures" weren’t dangerous (or at least not hungry) and when the nitwit faun came back, Druffle Quill would have to make an apology.
To actually say that he was in the wrong greatly annoyed the owl. There was one Druffle Quill hated most was to admit that he made a mistake! Somehow he had to make up a reasonable excuse to cover up his error. And with that nilly hammer nincompoop of a bard..this won't be too terribly hard. He mused.
