Mozer glanced back at Ci Hua, but she didn't seem disturb by his verbal sparring with the owl, and, really, it was rather fun in it's own way. "Obviously hands are the key to being helpful," the gryvern agreed ironically, twitching his feet to subtly emphasize that he didn't have hands either.
Pallo didn't seem overly grand at defending himself, but he really didn't know the faun well enough to tell if he -was- a brainless bard as Druffle presented or. . . not.

If as druffle said, hands were required to be useful then Pallo would actually be the only functioning creature here at the moment that had any. Ci Hua while she had 'shoulders' only had vines or tentacles some would say, that came out from them. although the smaller offshoots were capable of rather delicate processes she was taught not to use them for anything other than extra stability for carrying things.
When he pulled out the lute she paused and watched him tune it, then realized what he was doing and started up again... After he had it tuned as much as he was going to however, she stopped completely and moved a little ways away from the group before turning back and beginning to sing it the way it was meant to be sung.
It was pretty, well... It was alot more elegant than one would expect, and just as exotic sounding as Ci Hua looked... Although much less alien, and a little more oriental sounding... Although the language didn't appear to be a human one.... Although that was because she hadn't had enough time to get this song right. She had thought about dancing, but there wasn't the right music, nor floors.

"Quite right, quite right..." Druffle Quill agreed breathing in a sigh of relief. Whew! For a moment there I thought he wasn't buying it!
"And my powers are not what they used to be, after my mater's untimely death." He continue but stopped and cocked his feathery head, Hearing Ci Hua's singing, and Pallo happily playing his lute along with her.
"What the crigg?" He said turning his head at them and with out thinking the owl blurted. "The whatmathingie singing with the nincompoopy!"

Mozer blinked at the owl in slightly disconcerted surprise, but in a moment his look grew narrow and rather hostile. "She is not a whatmathingie, she is a Dionaea and, beyond that, she has a name. Ci Hua. You will refer to her as such. Furthermore, he is a faun, and his name is Pallo." The blue eyes were dark in supressed anger. Arrogant as the owl was, he would not tolerate this blatant insult of those around him. Why did Pallo put up with him?

Ci Hua didn't hear the 'whatmathingie' comment and if she had probably... Wouldn't have understood it in the least, and even had she known what he meant by it probably wouldn't have been offended, Dionaea was a hard word to say... Even she had trouble with it for awhile. But now she was mainly focused on singing, Pallo didn't seem to know what the music was or maybe had the wrong instrument? He was ok at it though, and she didn't need the music to sing anyways.
Other than continuing the song she didn't have anything to say.

The sudden stern voice of the gryvern made Druffle cower back. He felt both afraid and a little surprised.
Touchy fellow! He thought, after all he was only stating of what he saw and felt. Always speak your mind; that's what Druffle Quill believed! And cared little if it hurt anyone.
"Oh ahh yes...yes...Ci Hua and Pallo." He said at last.

Mozer stared at the owl for a moment longer, then, just as suddenly, relaxed again, and seemed to have forgotten how angry he was only a moment before. "So, you're abilities are linked with those of your master?" the gryvern asked easily. That was a strange way to operate.
